Walter Nyamilandu, Nsanje South Constituency chairperson has been appointed to lead a new parliamentary inquiry into the Chikangawa plane crash.
Speaker of Parliament Sameer Suleman announced Nyamilandu as chairperson of an ad hoc committee tasked with reopening investigations into the incident. Zomba City South Member of Parliament James Mpunga will serve as vice-chairperson.
Nyamilandu will head the committee at a time when Parliament is seeking answers over “gaps and inconsistencies” identified in earlier investigations, including those conducted by a Commission of Inquiry and international aviation experts.
The new committee is expected to re-examine the circumstances surrounding the crash, with lawmakers pushing for greater transparency and accountability.
