Female student dies after taking poison in Ntcheu 

In Ntcheu, a 15-year-old Form 2 student at Ntcheu Secondary School, Hannah Kasiya, has died after allegedly drinking poison.

The school’s headteacher, Bambiro Kumwenda, said at around 2 PM today, the student informed others that she was feeling unwell and was escorted to hospital by her classmates.

Kumwenda said after leaving the hospital, Hannah told her friends she was going to buy some items at the market before returning to school with them.

However, shortly after settling in the dormitory, she reportedly began crying out in pain, complaining of severe stomach aches, and then revealed that she had taken poison.

Her friends immediately gave her milk and alerted teachers, who rushed her back to hospital where she died while receiving medical treatment.
