Indian-Origin Woman Arrested For Allegedly Throwing Baby From Fifth Floor In Limbe

Police in Limbe are keeping in custody a 27-year-old woman of Indian origin, Zeenat Harum Khusmal, for allegedly killing her one-month-old baby in an incident that occurred on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
According to sources within the Indian community, Khusmal allegedly threw the infant from the fifth floor of the flat where she was residing opposite Pacific Tower in Limbe, Blantyre, at around 6:00 a.m.
The incident is reported to have followed a marital dispute between Khusmal and her husband.
Police have since confirmed the arrest and said the suspect has been charged with infanticide, an offence involving the killing of a very young child.
Khusmal is expected to appear before court on Monday, June 1, 2026.
