Police Nab Two Standard 8 Exam Invigilators for Allegedly Supplying Answers

Information reaching this publication indicates that police in Mponela, Dowa District, have arrested two primary school teachers for allegedly providing answered examination scripts to candidates currently sitting for the Standard 8 national examinations.

Mponela Police spokesperson MacPatson Msadala confirmed the arrests, saying investigations into the matter are ongoing.

According to information gathered by this publication, the two suspects, Hendrina Kachule and Kapindula Kalajere, who were assigned to invigilate the examinations, were apprehended on Tuesday at Ngala Primary School in the area of Senior Chief Chakhaza in Dowa. They were allegedly caught distributing papers containing answers to multiple-choice examination questions to candidates.

Meanwhile, officials from the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) were not immediately available for comment regarding the incident.

Kachule, 36, comes from Nankumba Village under Senior Chief Chakhaza in Dowa District, while Kalajere, 41, hails from Petros Moyo Village under Traditional Authority Mzukuzuku in Mzimba District.
