MEC WARNS SOCIAL MEDIA

Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has warned Social Media  to desist from reporting  on false  rumours of some Presidential Candidate missing on ballot papers, saying this is fueling unnecessary tension.

MEC chairperson Maxon Mbendera said this during the second press briefing held at the main Tally centre in Blantyre aiming at updating journalist and Malawi as a whole in the progress of voting process across the country.

In his speech MEC chairperson said  the move taken by social media to publish pictures showing ballot papers of some presidential candidate is creating panic among Malawians  and it should be stopped.

He further said those ballot papers are fake created by unpatriotic Malawians.

Meanwhile MEC has said those centres which were opened very late will close at 9pm.
