
MEC VEHICLES IN DEDZA BARRED FROM TRANSPORTING BALLOT PAPERS TO LILONGWE

There was commotion in Dedza district on Tuesday as political parties in the district barred Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) vehicles from transferring ballot papers to Lilongwe without security officers.
District Commissioner, Mr. Palani confirmed of the development.
These political parties include; Malawi Congress Party (MCP), the ruling People’s Party (PP) and United Democratic Front (UDF).
The parties claimed that transferring ballot papers without a security officer is not right considering the current irregularities that have marred the election.
Meanwhile the ballot papers were later transferred after the police in the district provided five police officers to accompany the two vehicles.
