As the Inauguration Ceremony for the newly elected President Professor Peter Mutharika is set to start at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre, reports indicate that Former President Joyce Banda will not attend the ceremony.
Banda was expected to handover the Symbolic Presidential Sword to President Mutharika, with her failure this will be done by the Army Commander.
According to the information sourced by Face of Malawi, Banda is reported to be resting in her residence in Nkhatabay.
Meanwhile several foreign dignitaries have already arrived at the ceremony.
