WE WILL NOT INTERFERE WITH JUDICIARY -NTABA

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for Central region Hetherwick Ntaba has said the party believes in the independence of  the Judiciary, hence, no any intention to interfere its operation.

Ntaba was quoted saying this at the State controlled radio (MBC 1).

His remarks came in reaction to fears raised recently by former ruling People’s Party (PP) Deputy Spokesperson Ken Msonda, saying DPP is set to persecute innocent Members of PP linked to cash gate scandal.

In his speech, Ntaba said cash gate was a serious and sad reality that had inflicted pain on Malawians as most government operations were failing to function efficiently.

He however said while the party believed that the cash gate criminal offenders should face the law, it would not interfere in the lawful and independent operations of the judiciary.

When approached for comment, PP spokesperson denied uttering the statement, saying he was miss quoted.

The plundering of public resources at Capitol Hill dubbed cash gate came to light when unknown thugs shot former Budget Director Paul Mphwiyo.

The scam has left the country’s economy in astray as development partners have all withheld their aid to Malawi.
