Police have arrested a well known Businessman Mr Osward Lutepo, a key suspect in the plundering of public funds at Capitol and charged him with perjury( lying under oath).
The arrest of Lutepo comes few hours after he claimed to Attorney General Kalekeni Kaphale that he was forced to implicate former Justice Minister Ralph Kasambala.
Lutepo was arrested in early hours of Sunday in Kasungu and was letter transferred to Lilongwe where he spend a night.
His lawyer Ted Loka confirmed of the arrest.
In the letter addressed to Kaphale dated July17 2014 , Lutepo disclosed that Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Bruno Kalemba, former Malawi Justice Minister Fahad Assani and prosecutor Kamudoni Nyasulu force him to write false witness and caution statement.
Lutepo faces theft and money laundering charges of K2.6 billion which was revealed after unknown thugs shot former Budget Director Mr. Paul Mphwiyo.
