Glasgow student set to travel to Malawi with charity

An Inchbare student is hosting a ceilidh at the Panmure Arms to help fund a trip to Malawi with a learning charity.

Ashley Sparks, who is about to go into her third year of BEd Primary Education course at Strathclyde University, is travelling to Malawi with students and teachers from Glasgow City Council in September.

While there, Ashley will be working in partnership with the Malawi Leaders of Learning charity project.

Ashley explained: “Their aim is to share ideas and help to improve and sustain education in challenging environments.”

She continued: “While on my trip I am going to be carrying out research into the Malawian education, from that I hope to be able to take and swap ideas from their classrooms and our classrooms here in Scotland.

“As part of a charity project I have to self fund the trip and have organised several fund-raising events.”

Her next event, a ceilidh, takes place this Saturday (August 23) at 7.45p.m. at Edzell’s Panmure Arms. Tickets cost £12 and are available by contacting Ashley on Facebook or Twitter @AshleySpark2.
