ZIMBABWE’S BAND TOWER TO PERFORM AT LAKE OF STARS FESTIVAL

LOCAL Afro-fusion group Band Tower from Zimbabwe is among the foreign artists to perform alongside various artists at Malawi’s Lake of Stars Festival which is expected to be held on September 26 and 27.
Speaking in an interview to our FOM reporters, Band Tower project manager Stephen Tsoroti said the five member band is set to perform in Malawi as part of the band’s regional and international project aimed at increasing its visibility regionally.

“The gigs seeks to create synergies with other regional artists and we hope that these shows will increase the band’s visibility regionally and internationally,” said Tsoroti.

“People should come braced for an evening of heart-catching synthetising Zimbabwean music, entertainment they will never forget,” said Tsoroti.

He said they want to share music that preaches real issues affecting ordinary Zimbabweans.

“We are very sure many people at the festival will relate to our music,” he said.

“We sing about issues affecting our society trying to catch up with a generation of local musicians that includes Oliver Mtukudzi, James Chimombe and Bhundu Boys who sang messages that really reflected Zimbabwe thus appealing internationally,” he said.

Band Tower consists of musicians who have worked with celebrated local stars including Willom Tight, Busi Ncube, Andy Brown and Illanga.

As a band, they have played at different festivals and local stages including Book Café and Alliance Française.

Other Zimbabwe local artistes who are set to perform at the Lake of Stars Festival include Selmor Mtukudzi and Tariro neGitare.
