CHIEFS IN THE NORTH REBUFFS THE CALL FOR THE FORMATION OF NYIKA REPUBLIC

Paramount Chief Chikulamayembe and 8 other Chiefs have blasted the call by former ruling People’s Party (PP) Provincial Chairman for the North Christopher Mzomela Ngwira for the formation of Northern Region standalone state.
Chikulamayembe said this in an interview with one of the local media house in the country [ZBS].
In his speech, Chikulamayembe said the move to form a federal government as preached by Ngwira is not good for the nation.
” We agreed not to buy the idea, Malawi has come a long way and let’s not rush into matters of building differences now,” he said.
Ngwira who has been in for-front preaching for the federal government, accuses the current and previous leaderships of sidelining the region in terms of development and sharing of positions in government.
