Obama openly lusts after iPhone 6 at United Nations

President Obama, sadly, does not have an iPhone 6. But he totally wants one, leading him to openly lust after Apple’s newest handset in a meeting Tuesday at the United Nations.

According to a report by The New York Times, while meeting in New York this week to meet with world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly, Obama spotted an iPhone 6 being used by Bahrain’s ambassador.

“Is that the new iPhone 6?” Obama was heard to ask, as journalists were hustled out of the room following a meeting between the president and Middle Eastern leaders who are being asked to show a united front against the terrorist group ISIS.

The New York Times suggests it may have just been small talk, meant to distract journalists from asking Obama uncomfortable questions. In fact, they claim Obama doesn’t even know how to use an iPad:

If he were to succumb to it, Mr. Obama would face a steep learning curve. In Florida not long before the 2012 election, the president was handed an aide’s iPhone while appearing at a re-election campaign offices and tried to dial a volunteer. He stared at the device, perplexed, explaining sheepishly that he did not know what to do with it.

“Oh, I got to dial it in,” Mr. Obama said back then. “Hold on, I can do this. See, I still have a BlackBerry.”

That’s hard to believe, given the fact that Obama is an avowed iPad user. Then again, we know he has iPhone lust: Because of security rules imposed upon the president by the Secret Service, Obama wouldn’t be allowed to use an iPhone, even if he wanted one.

I wonder if those rules will change before 2016, or if some other president will be the first one to use an iPhone in office.
