LATEST ON NATIONAL BUDGET: HOUSE APPROVES 15 VOTES AND DEFERRED 10

The Malawi government is optimistic of making progress on some ministerial allocations which have been deferred after facing technical hitches in the on-going budget sitting.

A total of 10 votes have today been deferred as legislators continue with the Committee of Supply stage which has so far seen a total number of 15 votes being approved.

The ministries of Agriculture and Food Security, Disability and Elderly Affairs, Water Development and Irrigation, Office of the Vice President and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology are five of the votes which got parliament approval today.

Leader of government business in the House Francis Kasaila told the Malawi News Agency that the government will make headway despite having a total of ten votes deferred by the time the house was suspended for lunch.

According to Kasaila, the anomalies for some votes are technical and that they will be rectified as soon as possible so that they are brought back on the floor.
