Police in Zomba have arrested a 24 year old man for allegedly killing a friend in a fight that ensued over a woman.
According to Zomba police spokesperson Patricia Sipiliyano, the deceased Thomas Walasi of Mbiza village in tradition al authority (T/A) Mbiza in Zomba, suspected that his wife had an affair with the suspect.
“And while at drinking joint at Moleni trading center on June, the deceased confronted the suspect and they started fighting but well wishers separated them he said.
The police further said in the evening, the deceased went to the suspect house where a fight stated and in defiance the suspect hit the deceased on the head with a peace of wood.
‘’ He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Hospital,’’ Sipiliyano said.
Police have since identified the suspect as Bitoni Wala Namfuko of Moleni Village T/A Mbiza in Zomba district.
He will appear in court soon to answer a murder charge.
