Information reaching faceofMalawi indicates that over 50 houses have been razed down by fierce fire in Kaingilira Village in Neno, destroying properties worth millions.
The incident happened on Wednesday as all villagers were away for a meeting.
Confirming the development in an interview with the Press, Village Head Kaingilira expressed shock over the development.
“We still don’t know what happened or where the fire came from but it has left a huge destruction in this community,” was quoted as saying.
On his part, Member of Parliament for the area, Emmanuel Lonzo has appeared for an urgent help, saying villagers are suffering.
The fire which lasted for 12 hours has consumed food stores, livestock and everything that a normal human being relies on.
