Information reaching FaceofMalawi indicates that controversial Press Officer Gerald Viola has sued Times Group over a story carried by Malawi News of 31 October 2015 alleging that President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika is planning to buy a new Jet once the economy improves.
Viola’s lawyer Ambukire Salim has confirmed of the development in an interview with the Press, saying his client has filed the application at Blantyre High Court.
According to Salim, his client is demanding compensation from Times Group,the author of the Story (Gregory Gondwe) and the Editor for publish a false story.
Viola has also confirmed of the development in an interview with the Press.
The exemplary damages case attracts a maximum of K250 million when the defendant loses the case.
