35 PEOPLE ARRESTED IN CONNECTION TO THE TORCHING OF SOUTH LUNZU MAGISTRATE COURT

Following the torching of South Lunzu Magistrate court in the commercial capital Blantyre, Police have arrested 35 people in connection to the incident.

The angry mob torched down South Lunzu Magistrate court on Wednesday last week after suspecting that police brought to court suspects to the murdered man in Machinjii who hard part of his body skinned by unknown assailant.

The mob overpowered the police officers before setting ablaze the court, destroying almost everything in the building.

Confirming of the arrest in an interview with the press, Blantyre Police Spokesperson Elizabeth Divala said the suspects are currently being kept at Chichiri Prison.

Divala said the suspected arsonist will answers Arson charges under Section 337 (a) of the Penal Code.

The torching of South Lunzu comes barely months after irate mob also torched Chilomoni Police Station in Blantyre.
