MCP MOURNS KANJIRA BANDA, BURIAL TUESDAY

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has expressed shock over the untimely death of the Party’s Member of Parliament (MP) for Mchinji West Billy Kanjira Banda.

Kanjira Banda died on Sunday after collapsing St. Francis Catholic Church where he together with his wife and third born Child went to attend a church service.

According to the statement released by MCP made available to FaceofMalawi, the Party has described Kanjira Banda as selfless and dedicated representative of the people.

“The President, entire National Executive Committee, Regional Committees, Members of Parliament and the entire MCP family join the entire Kanjira family, friends, Mchinji West and the entire nation in mourning this selfless and dedicated representative of the people. A humble and jovial man whom we will always cherish in our hearts,” reads the statement in part.

Burial arrangements

According to the statement, the Body of Hon. Kanjira will be collected from Kamuzu Central Hospital mortuary around 2pm today Monday, 14th March, 2016 and proceed to his house in area 25 for a brief service.

“Thereafter, we will proceed to St. Francis Catholic Church for Mass,” read the statement.

Late Kanjira Banda will be laid to rest on Tuesday In Mchinji.

Until his death, Kanjira Banda was Member of Parliament for Mchinji West.
