CHAKWERA WITHDRAWS HIS QUESTION TO APM: SAYS MUTHARIKA WANTED IN PARLIAMENT

There was drama in the August House on Wednesday afternoon when leader of opposition and Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera withdrew his question to President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.

Chakwera’s action follows Mutharika decision to shun parliamentary summon to answer some of the questions raised by for legislators namely, Kamlepo Kalua, Harry Mkandawire and former Vice President Khumbo Kachali.

Instead, Mutharika delegated Minister of Finance Goodall Gondwe to answer the questions which did not please Chakwera.

Announcing the withdraw, Chakwera said Mutharika has no answers to the challenges locking the country hence shunning parliament.

“I will ask the question when the President decides to appear in parliament,” said Chakwera.

On his part, kalua expressed shock over Mutharika move, saying he is betraying the same constitution he vowed to uphold when he was being sworn in.
Kalua said Mutharika knows that the questions are ‘hard hitting’ hence the shunning.

Meanwhile Mutharika’s decision to shun parliament has attracted mixed reactions from the general public on the social media.
