LAUNCH OF ‘BUY MALAWI’ INITIATIVE UNDER WAY: MUTHARIKA IN ATTENDANCE

President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika is presiding over the official launch of the Buy Malawi Strategy at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.

The initiative is aimed at wooing Malawians to change their mindsets and start supporting products made locally.

Speaking in an interview before the launch, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Cliff Chiunda, said that the Buy Malawi Strategy will also have a component for expansion of production and industrialisation facilitation.

He said the Buy Malawi Strategy compliments government’s mission to promote industry, trade and private sector development for sustainable economic growth.

The Buy Malawi Strategy is being supported by the Malawi government with financial and technical assistance from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the private sector.
