Woman arrested for torching Tobacco worth MK2.2 million

A 28-year old woman is in Police custody in Kasungu for allegedly torching Tobacco worth MK2.2 million after suspecting that her husband was having an affair with another woman.

Kasungu police deputy spokesperson, Harry Namwaza of the development in an interview with the press and identified the woman as Bertha Phiri.

According to Namwanza, the suspect was not that her husband Samson Thom has since February this year been cohabiting with another woman at Lowe Village in the area of Chief Lukwa in Kasungu.

On Friday last week her husband told her that the marriage is over, the development which did not please.

In retaliation, Phiri set the barn on fire destroying all the tobacco belonging to Alliance One Tobacco Company.

Phiri hails from Masengo Village in the area of chief Mwase in the district.
