Over 100 Malawians deported from South Africa

The South African government has deported 120 Malawians detained at Lindera immigration removal centre.

The deported once were among over 1000 Malawians detained at Lindela Camp in South Africa for having no proper immigration documents.

Immigration Department Public Relations Officer for Dedza James Tambulasi confirmed the development in an interview with the press, saying the group arrived in the country on Sunday.

Tambulasi said that out of 120, 116 are males while 4 are females.

He further said that more Malawians are expected to be deported as published reports indicate that more than 900 Malawians are detained at Lindela.

Last year, the government of Malawi spent huge sums of money in repatriating some of the Malawians affected by xenophobia in the rain-ball nation where close to five Malawians gruesomely killed.

The Xenophobia attack started following a statement issued by Zulu king, saying foreigners are making South Africans to be jobless.
