Health workers at at Bwaila Hospital in the capital Lilongwe have started a sit-in to force management address their concerns on the working environment.

The development comes barely days after teachers also issued warning if the government does not hike their salaries within a period of 24 days.

The workers complain, for example, that they have to work in aged infrastructure that poses a risk to their very lives. Management is yet to respond to the concerns.

The facility attends to over 400 patients from Lilongwe district daily.
