Parliament resume sitting on May 20 for 2016/17 national budget

Members of Parliament (MPs) are expected to resume their deliberations at the National Assembly in the capital Lilongwe next week Friday, May 20 2016.

The office of Speaker and government chief whip honourable Francis Kasaila have confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

During the meeting, Minister of Finance and Economic Development Goodall Gondwe is expected to table the 2016/17 national budget to be approved by the house.

Apart from that, Gondwe is expected to present a report on how different ministries have used the 2015/16 budgetary allocations.

The house is also expected to deliberate on certain bills that the house differed during the previous sitting and one of it being Land bill and others.

The house is also expected to tackle the issue to do with the abduction and killings of people living with albinism which is so rampant in the country.

According to media reports, more than 17 people living with albinism have been killed so far.

Meanwhile CSOs have proposed for death penalty on those people involved in the killing of people living with albinism.
