Investigations to Njauju’s gruesome murder stalls

Malawians will wait a little longer for the truth in the gruesome murder of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director of Corporate Services Issa Njauju to come out as nothing seems to be happening on the matter.

Njauju was murdered in 2015 by unknown thugs and his body was found buried in the sand behind Presidential Villas in the capital Lilongwe.

His official vehicle was bent to ashes along Ntandire Road within the city.

Since the incident happened government has not shown any commitment in investigating the matter, raising speculations that some DPP officials have a hand in the gruesome murder.

Speaking in an interview with the press on Saturday, Centre for Human Rights and Rehabilitation (CHRR) Executive Director Timothy Mtambo expressed concern on how the government is handling the issue,

“It’s sad that out of many lives we have lost, the 20 July, Robert Chasowa, and now our brother Njauju, justice has not been delivered and I see hide and seek games on the case. In Malawi we have a problem of sitting on things that are wrong, we worship impunity,” said Mtambo.

Mtambo said he could have loved to see perpetrators being brought to book.

Late last year, Police arrested a fellow officer Christopher Naphiyo and Frank John in connection to the murder but the two are yet to be tried.
Meanwhile it is not known as to when the case will commence.
