Two warders from Maula prison have been arrested in connection to the escapee of four hardcore criminals from the prison on Tuesday.
Malawi Prison Services spokesperson Smart Maliro has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.
Maliro said that the warders are being investigated for having a hand of the escapee of the four hardcore criminals namely James Daudi of Bonongwe village T/A Chimwala in Mangochi, Chonde Saudi of group village Ngwengwe in T/A Kalonga in Salima, Nix Daudi of Bonongwe village in T/A Chimwala, Mangochi all bank robberers and Edward Majawa a murder of Kabudula village in T/A Kabudula in Lilongwe.
The inmates escaped after breaking the fence and cell with the help of outsiders.
Meanwhile Police are hunting for the said criminals who were serving different counts ranging from murder and Bank robberies.
