Malawi’s first female Police Inspector General dead: burial Tuesday

Mary Nangwale, former Malawi’s Inspector General of Police will be laid to rest on Tuesday September 20, 2016 at Limbe Cemetery in the commercial capital Blantyre.

Nangwale died in the early hours of Sunday at Mwaiwathu Private Hospital in Blantyre.

According to the family, Nangwale’s burial awaits the arrival of her Children living in the United States of America.

The family said a funeral church service will be conducted at Living Waters Church in Chimwankhunda where she was a member and ordained pastor.

Nagwale was appointed Inspector General of Police by late Bingu wa Mutharika but the National Assembly rejected her appointment.

She joined the police in 1972.
