MANEB speaks out on early closure of exam registration

The Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) has expressed concern over the tendency of some examination centres for early closure of registration period for 2017 PSLCE and MSCE examinations, despite the deadline being 9th December, 2016.

In a statement made available to FaceofMalawi, MANEB Public Relations Officers Simeon Maganga said the development is totally WRONG and UNACCEPTABLE.

“We deliberately set 9th December to be the deadline so as to give parents and guardians (or the learners themselves) ample time to source enough money for the registration. Therefore, any attempt to close the registration period before the set deadline is not only denying the candidates an opportunity to register at their convenient examination centre but also flouting MANEB’s rules and regulations on proper conduct of national examinations.

“We would, therefore, wish to remind all examination centres of the need to abide by MANEB’s rules and regulations on proper conduct of national examinations,” reads the statement in part.

Maganga has urged learners, parents, guardians and the general public to alert the board if they have information about schools closing the registration period way before the set deadline.

“The alerts could be sent through comments, private messages, our toll-free number1991 from TNM lines or 01 525 212.

“Let us not deny learners a chance to sit the 2017 PSLCE and MSCE examinations,” added Maganga.
