Tanzanian Taqwa Bus involved in an accident in Mzuzu

Over 60 passengers from Lilongwe to Tanzania have survived what could have been a fatal accident after a bus they travelling in overturned at at Lusangazi in Mzuzu.

Voice of Livingstonia (VOA) reporter Herbert Chawinga who rushed to the scene of the accident confirmed of the accident in a statement posted on his official Facebook page.

According to Chawinga, the accident which involved Tanzanian Taqwa Bus happened in the wee hours of Monday, saying the bus driver was over speeding.

“It passed us @ Lojwa where we had made a brief stop on our way from LL too to Mzuzu, only to find it in this state some minutes later close to the last road block to the City.

“There are serious injuries and by the time we arrived here, there were still people trapped inside the Vehicle,” wrote Chawinga.

He added: “No emergency services were on the scene as the incident had just occurred (barely 15 minutes then) It was very hard to get inside to figure out the fate of the rest of the passengers in there due to extreme dark conditions @ the scene and in the bus.”
