MCP undecided on what to do with Kabwila

Opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) is yet to come up with a final decision on what to do with its suspended spokesperson Jessie Kabwila who has refused to appear before disciplinary hearing for the second time.

Kabwila was suspended two months ago together with lawmaker Joseph Njobvuyalema for allegedly having a hand in the botched torching of the MCP’s headquarters in the capital Lilongwe.

Last month, the Party summoned Kabwila for a disciplinary hearing at the Party’s headquarters but she refused, saying the invitation was not formal.

And recently Kabwila also refused to appear before disciplinary hearing citing failure by the Party to clearly stipulate the charges that she is facing and where the hearing will take place.

She said she is not comfortable to meet the committee at the party’s headquarters in Lilongwe as it has become a non-safe space to some people including lawyers.

When asked what the party will do on Kabwila considering that she is not willing to appear before the committee, MCP Second Deputy Secretary General, Eisenhower Mkaka said the party is yet to come up with a solution on the matter.

Mkaka said what the Party knows is that Kabwila failed to appear before the committee due to Parliamentary engagements in Zimbabwe.
