Information sourced by FaceofMalawi indicates that President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has fired chief executive officer for Tobacco Control Commission (TCC) Dr Albert Changaya.

According to information at hand, Changaya has been redeployed to the ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development.

Changaya’s deputy David Luka has been hired to serve as acting CEO for TCC.

No reasons have been provided for the firing.

Others have linked his firing to the flopped 2016 Tobacco Selling season which saw farmers robbed by buyers who offered poor prices of the Tobacco on the market.
