MCP women league ask Chakwera to call for emergency convention

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) women league have asked the Party President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to call for the immediate convention, accusing him of breaking the party’s constitution.

The call was made on Monday in the capital Lilongwe during the media attended by all media house in the country.

Blantyre Women League Treasure Chrissy Misomali said they are not convinced with Chakwera’s leadership style hence the call.

She said if he fails to meet the women’s demand Chakwera should resign or face unspecified action.

“We want this message to reach our party President, he found us in the party why is it that he is firing us, that’s not possible he is just new in the party he must leave,” said Misomali.

Mosamali went further by saying that they tried to engage dialogue with Chakwera but their efforts proved futile.

Meanwhile MCP spokesperson denied to comment on the matter when contacted.
