Bridge washed away at Jarawe along M1 road in Rumphi (see photos)

Information reaching faceofMalawi indicates that a bridge at Jarawe near Mchenga coal mine along M1 road in Rumphi has been washed away causing traffic-jam.

The development follows heavy rains that have been falling over the weekend in some parts of the Northern Region with the worst hit district being Karonga.

According to information at hand, over four people have been killed and over 30 families have been rendered homeless.

Meanwhile Roads Authority (RA) officials are yet to comment on the matter.
