Police officer interdicted for smuggling a vehicle into Malawi

Ntcheu police officer identified as Constable Steve Meke has been interdicted from work for allegedly being involved in the smuggling of a vehicle from South Africa into Malawi.

Constable Meke was arrested on April 11, 2017 at Tsangano turnoff Police roadblock together with three civilians.

It is believed that the four took advantage of a porous border at Biriwiri to get the car into the country.

However, they got apprehended at Tsangano turnoff police Roadblock which is about two kilometres away from the border.

According to information sourced by faceofmalawi, Meke has been interdicted and is now on half pay pending investigations.

Recently, the Malawi Police Service fired one of their police officers based in Chileka over her leaked nude photos.

The firing attracted debate on the social media with others asking the authorities to reinstate the Police officer.
