Lucius on Atupele’s neck over DPP, UDF marriage: says young Muluzi fast ‘losing steam’

Balaka North Member of Parliament Lucius Banda has yet again criticized United Democratic Front (UDF) President Atupele Muluzi for continuing with his marriage with the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), saying the young Muluzi is slowly losing public trust.

Banda, who was recently described as misguided MP by President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika said this in an interview with the press.

According to Banda, Atupele’s marriage with DPP has crippled him to the extent that he is shunning the Party’s leadership duties.

He said Atupele has put himself in a fixed position considering the fact that he cannot criticize Mutharika on some issues affecting the nation.

When asked to comment on the matter, UDF spokesperson Ken Ndanga said the Party is tired with Banda’s conduct on the issue.

Banda described the working relationship between UDF and DPP as not beneficial, saying only Atupele who is Minister of Lands and Housing benefiting from the partnership.
