126 Suspects in Custody After a Sweeping Exercise in Mchinji

126 suspects in Mchinji district have been arrested on Thursday following a sweeping exercise Police in the district conducted.

Those apprehended are being suspected to have been linked with the various crimes in Mchinji district, according to Mchinji police spokesperson Kaitano Lubrino.

Lubrino said the suspects, which seven of them are women were arrested at Kapiri and Kamwendo Trading Centres and other surrounding areas in Mchinji.

“Some suspects have been charged with idle and disorderly while others are those who were not hounoring their bail conditions,” explained Lubrino.

Just a week ago, Limbe Police CID officers arrested 16 suspects in Blantyre after they also embarked on a sweeping exercise in the commercial city.

The sweeping exercises are aimed at reducing series of robberies in various areas in the country.

Police are urging the public to report to them of any possible suspected people in order to achieve a crime free society.
