Zambian woman who was five months pregnant, has died after she was beaten, allegedly by her husband for refusing to eat her food when they came back from drinking at some bar.

Earlier, Lobina Nambeye, 37, of Katuba farming area, and her husband Davy Kaonga had gone to their field, after which they decided to go for a drink at one of the drinking spots.

Their son had accompanied them to the field but he was told to go home as they opted to go straight to the bar.

But whatever happened, they engaged in a fight when they returned home.

The teacher turned the conversation to be vulgar as he revealed what he will do to her and how they will ‘make out together’ and he promised her that he ‘will not penetrate too much’.

At this instance, the girl was secretly recording everything and finally revealed to the other teachers.

The Education Labour Relations Council (ELRC) for South Africa found the teacher guilty and that he had ‘$exually assaulted’ the learner.

With all the evidence from the video recordings, the teacher was fired for taking advantage of 14- year-old girl.

Malawi’s National Planning Commission (NPC) recently held the 2023 National Development Conference, with Vice President Saulos Chilima in attendance.

Kapiri Mposhi, Zambia – Two men have been arrested in connection with the death of 29-year-old Sandra Ngosa, a twin from Kapiri Mposhi.

According to police reports, the woman was found dead with bruises on her face and around her underpants, leading authorities to suspect that she was both killed and sexually assaulted.

The investigation into the death of Ms. Ngosa began early on Tuesday morning when her body was discovered in Riverside Township.

Based on the condition of the body, police suspect that she must have been killed sometime between 04:00 hours and 05:00 hours.

The police have launched a full investigation into the incident and have already arrested two individuals in connection with the crime.

The suspects are currently being questioned by police and are expected to appear in court soon.

The death of Sandra Ngosa has sent shockwaves through the community, and residents are calling for justice to be served.

The Machinga District Hospital is facing a dire cholera situation, struggling to manage a high number of cases with a shortage of staff.

During a tour of the facility, Machinga District Medical Officer Chimwemwe Yailo reported that the spread of the disease is being contained in surrounding areas through increased surveillance and control around Lake Chilwa, and by administering oral cholera vaccines to 38,000 people.

However, the hospital is in dire need of support as it lacks sufficient beds and proper infrastructure at the cholera treatment unit, resulting in patients being treated in hallways.

At present, the cholera treatment center in Machinga district has 79 patients.

Six teachers from a primary school in Nyamache, Kisii County, Kenya were arrested by police after a video showing students simulating sexual acts while the teachers watched was widely circulated.

Education ministry officials raised a complaint after watching the video, which prompted the police to take action.

In the clip, the teachers can be heard laughing and talking as the uniformed pupils were recorded.

According to a police statement, the video appeared to have originated from the school and the teachers are now assisting in the investigation.

The councillor went further to say that the case was rushed to court before being fully prepared and that the objective was to interdict Chizuma and discard sensitive files.

Garton Kamchezera, a political analyst from the University of Malawi, has voiced his strong opposition to the recent interdiction of Martha Chizuma as the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

The Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) has announced the introduction of a new degree program in International Trade as part of its effort to complement the authorities’ drive of boosting export business in the country.

The university, known for its business programs and for training many of the business executives managing finances in both public and private sectors, has been recognized by the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) for its role in promoting tax compliance.

The suspension of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General, Martha Chizuma, has sparked controversy and differing opinions among various organizations and experts in the country.

The Center for Democracy and Economic Development Initiative (CDEDI) expressed shock at the news of Chizuma’s interdiction.

In a statement, CDEDI Executive Director Sylvester Namiwa accused the government of suspending Chizuma to protect individuals who have been fired from the cabinet and the President’s cronies who are looting the country’s resources.

The statement also questioned the need for the ACB during President Chakwera’s regime.

“A twenty seven member cabinet cannot be described as leaner. The DPP for five years managed to have a twenty member cabinet which is a true definition of leaner cabinet,” read part of the statement.

A Ugandan court has ordered a woman to pay her former fiancé over USh10 million ($2,700) in compensation for breaking her promise to marry him.

Richard Tumwine, a teacher, sued his former lover Fortunate Kyarikunda after she backed out of their promise to marry agreement, having received financial support from Tumwine, including sponsorship for a diploma in law.

The court ruled in favor of Tumwine, ordering Kyarikunda to reimburse the USh9.4 million he spent on her education, pay USh1 million in damages for the psychological pain caused by the breakup, and cover Tumwine’s legal expenses.

The court rejected Kyarikunda’s argument that she broke the agreement due to her parents’ objections to the marriage.

A 27-year-old man from Ng’ombe Township in Lusaka, Zambia has been sentenced to two years in prison after being accused of attempted rape.

During his court appearance, the man, Mathews Mtonga, claimed that the incident was a misunderstanding.

He said that he and the 30-year-old woman, who was three years older, met at a bar and decided to have sex at her home while her husband was in police custody.

According to Mtonga, they were interrupted by nosy neighbors, and the woman accused him of attempting to rape her in order to cover up their compromising position.

The woman, however, claimed that her husband had assaulted her, and when the police refused to help, she enlisted Mtonga’s help to bring her husband to the police station.

She then accused Mtonga of attempting to rape her after he made sexual advances.

The judge found enough evidence against Mtonga to convict him and noted that sexual assault cases are on the rise, making his imprisonment a warning to potential offenders.
