Egypt Sentences 16-Year-Old TikTok Star To 1 Year In Prison

Egypt has upheld a one-year prison sentence against a 16-year-old girl whose TikTok dance videos were deemed obscene by authorities.

Her sentence came amid the country’s ongoing crackdown on immoral social media content.

According to local media, the Child Juvenile Court in Egypt upheld Nancy Ayman’s sentence, known on social media as Mocha Hijazi, on the grounds that her charges amounted to gross indecency on Tuesday, May 31.

Her lawyer, Mina Nagy, had appealed the one-year prison sentence, but it was upheld by the court.

Nancy, 16, was imprisoned by the Child Appeals Court in Giza, on the Nile’s west bank, and her photographer, Moaz M., was imprisoned for three years and fined 100,000 Egyptian pounds ($5,300).

Moaz was accused of exploiting the girl by forcing her to shoot and publish video clips in revealing clothing for financial gain.

It is currently unknown whether the photographer has filed an appeal against his sentence.

Butcher brutally slashes wife’s throat, mutilates body in public

An Egyptian butcher has allegedly brutally slashed his wife’s throat and mutilated her body after a violent argument prompted by the man’s drug abuse, local media reported.

The police received a report that the woman had been killed in a public square in Fayoum, south west of Cairo, cut from the neck to the end of the abdomen.

Security forces immediately moved to the crime scene and found the woman was killed by her husband, who surrendered to the police.

An ambulance transported the body to the morgue at Senouras Central Hospital.

A team was formed to investigate the murder, and the detectives spoke to witnesses and neighbours of the victim. Police also collected surveillance camera footage.

Investigations showed the cause of the vicious crime was a violent argument between the couple, due to the husband’s drug abuse, which prompted his wife to leave the marital home and move to her father’s house.

They fought again and the wife demanded a divorce, but the man stabbed her to death. As the butcher committed his cruel crime, he threatened everyone who tried to intervene to rescue his wife, the police said.

Forensic lab experts collected fingerprints and blood samples from the crime scene.

The accused was arrested and referred to Public Prosecution for further investigation and trial.

Woman kills abusive husband, cuts body into pieces

An Egyptian woman has killed her husband and cut his body into three parts, allegedly for frequently abusing her, local media reported.

Aided in the murder by her son-in-law, the 45-year-old woman had put the body parts into bags and tossed them into a ditch in the town of Qaliub, north of Cairo, reports said.

Later, the husband’s body parts were found in the ditch. Police investigations blamed the murder on the wife who perpetrated it in complicity with her son-in-law, aged 25 years.

After her arrest, the suspect admitted to having committed the crime using a knife, claiming that the victim used to ill-treat and hit her.

Police investigations showed that the woman had laced the man’s food with sleeping pills and when he fell asleep, she sliced him up into three parts with assistance from her son-in-law.

Prosecutors ordered the two suspects remanded for four days pending further interrogations.

In recent months, Egyptian media have reported several incidents of family violence, with some of them culminating in murders.

Last month, an Egyptian man had allegedly killed his wife for her failure to prepare a meal for him.

The murder occurred after a dispute between the couple in their house in the city of Benha north of the Egyptian capital.

Bride killed, groom injured in run-up to wedding

An Egyptian girl died and her groom was injured in a road crash, days before their wedding, prompting mass grief in their hometown, local media reported

The girl, identified as Bousy Al Burai, was killed while her groom Mahmoud Al Burhami, sustained multiple injuries after their car flipped over on a road in the coastal city of Damietta.

The couple was heading to Damietta, a hub for the furniture industry in Egypt, to buy furnishings for their new house ahead of the wedding party that was scheduled for late September. The cause of the crash was not clear.

The tragedy triggered mass mourning in the girl’s village in the Nile Delta governorate of Kafr Al Sheikh.

Thousands of locals participated in her funeral during which some mourners chanted “There is no god but Allah and the bride in heaven if Allah wills,” Al Masri Al Youm newspaper reported.

Some female mourners let out joy cries, traditionally ululated at engagement and wedding parties in Egypt.

An Egyptian man allegedly killed his wife in front of their children because she was ‘talkative’, local media reported.

He is said to have killed his wife by slamming her head against the wall several times until she lost consciousness in front of her three children.

According to police records, the husband admitted to killing his wife, claiming he did so because she was a “talkative woman”.

Media reports said on the day of the incident, a heated verbal altercation erupted between the two, which developed into a quarrel during which the man assaulted his wife and slammed her head against the wall several times and went to sleep.

The next morning, the husband left the house for work, leaving his wife in the room, thinking she was sleeping, but a while later, he received a phone call from his son telling him that his mother had died.

The husband rushed back to the house to check the matter and his sons told him, “We wanted to wake her up but she was a lifeless body”.

He immediately took her to hospital but she was pronounced dead on arrival. However, the health inspector’s report suspected foul play in her death; after spotting some bruises on her body, and immediately informed the police.

Investigations revealed that the couple engaged in a verbal altercation over family disputes and that the husband had beaten his wife and smashed her head against the wall, leading to her death.

Upon being interrogated, he denied intentionally killing his wife saying, “This is a normal quarrel that happens between any spouses.”

The fifty-year-old accused also said that his wife was suffering from hypertension and diabetes, saying, “It is possible that she fell into a coma or a depression.”

He later admitted to unintentionally killing his wife because she is a “talkative woman”.

Man beheads pregnant sister 30 minutes before delivery

An Egyptian man has murdered his pregnant sister half an hour before her planned delivery in her apartment, local media reported.

The man is said to have beheaded his sister after stabbing her multiple times.

He first hit her with a stick on the head to cause her to lose consciousness, and and then “slit her throat like a goat”.

According to the victim’s relatives, the killer had a bloody past and a criminal record.

The crime came to light when the victim’s aunt went to take her pregnant niece to hospital for her scheduled delivery. To her shock, she found her niece lying in a pool of blood with her head chopped off.

She immediately reported the crime to the police who launched an investigation into the dreadful crime. The killer was arrested shortly after committing his crime. He was also on the wanted list.

“It is not the first time that the victim’s brother has tried to kill her. A year after her marriage, she was stabbed 20 times in different parts of her body, causing her deep injuries but she narrowly survived. He was arrested back then but she dropped the case against her brother just for her mother not to grief,” the victim’s aunt said.

“On the day of the crime, the victim was getting herself ready to go to hospital to deliver her first baby two years after marriage. However, he brother called her saying he is coming to see her before going to hospital.

Couple arrested for poisoning daughter as punishment for refusing to marry her mother’s relative

Egyptian police arrested a man and his wife for allegedly poisoning a daughter to punish her for turning down a marriage offer, local newspapers reported.

Investigations revealed the man and the daughter’s stepmother, living in Egypt’s southern governorate of Qena, chained the 22-year-old girl, tortured and forced her to take a hair dyeing substance in an alleged attempt to kill her after she had spurned their suggestion to marry a relative of the stepmother.

The girl was transferred to a local hospital, displaying symptoms of poisoning purportedly after she was forced to take the toxic substance.

She survived the alleged poisoning attempt and is in hospital for treatment. The suspects are in remand pending interrogations.

Earlier this month, an Egyptian woman and her brother were arrested for allegedly killing her teen daughter and tossing her body from a fifth floor after the girl refused to wed a proposed suitor in the Cairo area of Al Basateen, according to local media.

Conservative families traditionally believe that the girl should have no say in choosing the husband-to-be.

Tooth brush removed from woman’s esophagus

Egyptian surgeons had extricated a tooth brush from a woman’s esophagus in a Delta province, a local newspaper has reported.

The item was removed after 15-minute endoscopy procedures performed on the woman at a state hospital in the governorate of Menuifia, north of Cairo, news portal Al Youm Al Saba added.

A surgeon, who participated in the operation, was quoted by the paper as saying that the woman had said she had voluntarily swallowed the brush, without giving a clear reason for doing this.

Last month, surgeons at another Egyptian state hospital removed a lantern bulb from the wind pipe of a five-year-old boy, according to local media.

The boy’s family said that the child had swallowed the bulb while playing with his lantern, resulting in severe pains and breathing difficulties for him.

The bulb got stuck in the wind pipe of the child who was taken to a hospital affiliated to the Beni Sueif University in south Egypt.

While coins are the most common objects swallowed by children, batteries, and magnets are also among these items, according to medical experts.

In-Laws Fire Gunshots At Groom After Wedding

An Egyptian groom has been injured by his in-laws in a gun fight that erupted after the end of his wedding party in a village in a Nile Delta province, local media reported.

The 29-year-old groom and his brother were taken to a local hospital in the governorate of Kafr el-Sheikh, about 130 kilometres from Cairo, with wounds sustained in the battle, Al Youm Al Saba news portal said.

Police were alerted that a quarrel broke out between families of the newlyweds following the wedding party in which the bride’s father fired shots from a gun, injuring the groom and his brother.

Local prosecutors opened an investigation into the incident.

The cause of the violence was not given. The main suspects—the bride’s father and his brother – were arrested, facing charges of attempted premediated murder.

The violence is the latest incident reported in the Egyptian media about wedding joy marred by tragic events.

Earlier this month, An Egyptian bride died of a heart attack an hour after her wedding party in the south of the country.

The 21-year-old woman suffered sudden fatigue after entering her new house in the southern governorate of Beni Sueif, according to witnesses.

Woman, assisted by her brother pushes daughter to death from 5th floor for refusing to wed a proposed suitor

An Egyptian woman, assisted by her brother, allegedly killed her teenaged daughter and tossed her body from a fifth floor after the girl refused to wed a proposed suitor, local media reported.

The mother initially claimed that the 17-year-old daughter had committed suicide by throwing herself from their fifth-floor apartment in the Cairo area of Al Basateen due to psychological trouble.

However, police investigations revealed that the girl’s mother and uncle had beaten her to death after she had refused a marriage proposal from a mentally disabled man favoured by her mother for being rich.

The girl’s uncle, suspected of involvement, tried to get a burial permit without the usual medical examination conducted on the body, but a government health official suspected a criminal motive and notified local police.

Investigations also showed that the victim’s father was living in another place after his brother-in-law beat him for refusing to approve the marriage proposal.

Both the woman and her brother were arrested and kept in custody pending interrogation.

Egyptian media has recently reported several grisly family crimes.

Egyptian Bride dies an hour after wedding

An Egyptian bride had died of a heart attack an hour after her wedding party in a village in the south of the country, sending shock waves among relatives and friends.

The 21-year-old woman, identified as Isra Shaaban, suffered fatigue after entering her new house in the village of Medoum in the southern governorate of Beni Sueif, according to witnesses.

“The bride felt exhaustion and sharp pains in the tummy and the chest after the end of the wedding party,” said a local witness. “She asked her family not to leave her. The bride was taken to a hospital where she breathed her last on arrival,” added the villager.

Her family have been devastated. “Yesterday, we attended Isra’s wedding where everyone was happy,” the bride’s cousin Mohammad Hamed, said.

“Today, we buried her. May Allah bestow patience on her husband and parents. Their joy was not complete. Joy turned into a nightmare,” he added.

The village’s stunned inhabitants participated in her funeral, media reported.

Couple suffocates to death while having s*x after taking drugs

A 27-year-old Uber driver and his 21-year-old girlfriend were found dead inside a parked locked car in Egypt’s capital Cairo, local media reported.

The duo is suspected to have suffocated as the car windows were shut. The victims were suspected to have consumed drugs. Initial investigations reveal that the two were in a relationship and traces of drugs were found.

Al Haram police were alerted from the people living in the area who complained of foul smell from the garage in a building under construction. The police, who found the bodies in the car, said there is no sign of the couple having made any efforts to get out of the vehicle as they were under the influence of narcotics.

The forensic report confirmed that there was no criminal intention, and the duo were suffocated to death while having sex after consuming drugs.

The woman’s father collapsed when he was told about his daughter’s death.

Investigations indicated that the driver was in a relationship with the girl for two months.

He proposed to her, but her family refused him. The families of the two victims had earlier lodged a missing complaint.

Cattle meant for Eid Al Adha festival kills two people while being escorted to slaughter house

An ox, transported to be slaughtered as a sacrifice during Eid Al Adha festival, had jumped from a pick-up truck to kill two persons north of the Egyptian capital, local media reported.

On jumping from the vehicle on a road in the governorate of Menufia, the animal, dubbed the “flying ox” in the local media, fell on a private car, causing it to flip over and kill two of its passengers.

Two others were seriously injured in the accident and admitted into an intensive care unit in a local hospital.

During Eid Al Adha, Muslims, who can afford it, sacrifice animals such as sheep, goats, camels and cows, honouring the Prophet Ebrahim’s willingness to slay his son Ismael at Allah’s command.

As the Prophet Ebrahim and Ismael showed unwavering obedience to the divine order, Allah sent a ram slaughtered in the son’s stead.

Two killed in dispute over washing a dead woman

Two Egyptians were killed and five others injured in a pitched battle sparked by a dispute over washing a dead woman, according to a local media.

The violence erupted in the southern governorate of Suhag after a woman had passed away inside a house of her in-laws who said they had the right to perform the pre-burial washing ritual on her.

But relatives of the deceased arrived at the house, insisting they had the same right.

An altercation between the two sides developed into a battle in which sticks and guns were wielded, according to media reports.

Egyptian Woman arrested for killing 2-week-old baby girl to please husband who dislikes girl-children

An Egyptian woman was arrested on charges of killing her two-week-old baby girl by throwing her alive into a water tank on the roof of their house to please her husband who did not like to have girls, local media reported.

The crime happened in Abu Al Matamir town in El Beheira Governorate in the northern part of the country in the Nile Delta in Egypt.

The El Beheira Security Department received a report from Abu Al Matamir police station where a health inspector had a criminal suspicion of the death of the infant, who was already buried after her mother claimed that she died due to natural causes.

The Abu Al Matamir prosecutor ordered the exhumation of the toddler’s body three days after her burial to conduct an autopsy and investigate the authenticity and causes of her death.

A team of detectives led by Maj. Gen. Mohamed Shaarawy, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, concluded that there was a criminal suspicion of the toddler’s death.

The newly married woman, Sara, confessed to having thrown her infant daughter alive into the water tank until she died because her husband did not want to have girls.

2 brothers arrested for burning friend’s father alive

Two Egyptian brothers have been arrested for pouring gasoline on their friend’s father and setting him on fire, which led to his death, to punish their friend who refused to return money he had borrowed.

According to local media, the crime occurred in Kafr Al Sheikh, north of Cairo, as a result of a financial dispute between the two siblings and their friend. Prior to the crime, the brothers asked their friend several times to return the amount he borrowed from them but he refused frequently.

On the day of the crime, the brothers went to their friend’s home, but he was not there. They engaged in a heated argument with the victim before pouring gasoline on him, and setting him on fire.

The suspects, who were found to have criminal records, were shortly arrested by security services. They confessed to the crime and were referred to the Public Prosecutor’s office for further investigation.

Meanwhile, legal action will be taken against the victim’s son for posting a video of the incident on social media. The video clip was later removed by authorities.

EGYPT ARRESTS TEENAGE TIKTOK INFLUENCER EVADING 10-YEAR SENTENCE

Egyptian police arrested Tiktok influencer Haneen Hossam Tuesday two days after she failed to appear in court for her sentencing to 10 years on “human trafficking” charges, a security official said.

Hossam, 19, was caught in a Cairo suburb and will be transferred to the Public Prosecution, the official said.

Another social media influencer, Mowada al-Adham, was also sentenced on Sunday with three other people to six years in jail by the Cairo Criminal Court for “corrupting family values, inciting debauchery and encouraging young women to practise sexual relations”, her lawyer Saber Sokkar told AFP on Monday.

Hossam was given a longer sentence because she had failed to appear in court at previous hearings, Sokkar added.

Hossam’s arrest came a day after she posted a tearful video on social media that went viral pleading with authorities to drop the charges.

“Ten years! I didn’t do anything immoral to deserve all this. I was jailed for 10 months and didn’t say a word after I was released… Why do you want to jail me again?,” she asked.

Both women were arrested last year and sentenced to two years each in jail for “attacking society’s values” in videos published on TikTok.

In one video, Hossam told her millions of followers that girls could work for her for money, for which she was also accused last year of “debauchery” and “human trafficking”.

But in January an appeals court acquitted the pair.

The targeting of female influencers has rekindled a heated debate in the deeply conservative Muslim country over what constitutes individual freedoms and social values.

The crackdown on women is not unusual in Egypt, where several belly dancers and pop singers have been targeted in recent years over online content deemed too racy or suggestive.

Human rights groups say more freedoms have been curtailed in Egypt since President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi took office in 2014.

His government has enforced strict internet controls through laws allowing authorities to block websites seen as a threat to national security and to monitor personal social media accounts with more than 5,000 followers.
