British tourist arrested in Namibia for molesting dozens of children after forcing them to str!p for n@ked photos

A 65-year-old British tourist, Douglas Robert Brook, was arrested in Namibia after being accused of exploiting over 30 indigenous San children at the Ju’/Hoansi Living Museum. Brook is facing 38 charges, including rape, indecent assault, child exploitation, human trafficking, and crimen injuria, a Namibian offense that involves actions seriously harming someone’s dignity.

The charges arose from allegations that Brook persuaded 33 children to undress for photos and allowed him to touch their private parts in exchange for sweets. These actions are reported to violate Namibia’s Child Care & Protection Act, as well as international laws meant to protect children from exploitation.

The Ju’/Hoansi Living Museum is a cultural site established to preserve and present the traditional way of life of the San people, one of the oldest surviving indigenous groups in Southern Africa. The museum offers tourists an opportunity to learn about the San’s culture, including traditional practices like hunting, gathering, and making crafts.

Brook, who had visited the museum on multiple occasions, arrived in Namibia on May 15, 2025, and was arrested the day after the incident. The Namibian government, along with local authorities, has strongly condemned his alleged actions, emphasizing the importance of protecting vulnerable children and indigenous communities from exploitation.

The case has sparked discussions on the ethical issues surrounding cultural tourism and the protection of indigenous people. The Ju’/Hoansi Living Museum strives to provide an authentic experience of San culture, but incidents like this highlight the potential risks and ethical concerns when tourists interact with vulnerable communities.

Brook has been remanded in custody and will appear in court on June 19, 2025. Authorities continue to investigate the case to ensure justice and to prevent further harm to vulnerable groups.

A Nigerian lady, Amarachukwu, has shared the shocking story of how a diabolic truth was unearthed while two wives were fight over the the wealth of their late husband.

The second wife who had more children wanted the man’s assets to be shared equally between she, her kids and the first wife as well as her children.

But the first wife refused and in a bid to justify why she and her children deserve more, she confessed that her husband used their first child for blood money, which they were all enjoying.

According to her, she and her husband made a pact that when he dies, she would get more of the property.

Lady in leaked tape with Oxlade cries out as family disowns her

The young lady in a leaked tape with singer Oxlade has called out the singer for ignoring her amid the backlash being thrown her way.

She also claimed that her family have disowned her as a result of the leaked tape.

This comes days after Oxlade issued a publicly apology following for the inconvenience brought upon the lady and her family.

The lady however does not seem to be done with dragging the ‘Away’ crooner laying emphasis on the damages the tape caused her.

In a chat posted online, Oxlade, told her that he is currently on admission at a hospital adding that he is also being criticised for it, but that he will handle the situation once he regains his strength.

The chats also revealed the advice from Oxlade’s friend, who happens to be a close friend of Tamara, identified as Ojahbee.

Ojahbee advised Tamara in the chat to calm down, as Oxlade is equally still recovering from traumatic experience emanating from the released tape, besides, her demand seems huge for Oxlade.

Meet The Tribe Where Women Cover Their Hair With Mud, Men Offer Wives To Visitors And Bath With No Water

Down in the Kunene and Omusati regions of Northern Namibia, are the semi-nomadic people of Ovahimba and Ovazimba tribes. The Himbas have existed for millions of years. The tribe has managed to preserve their traditions and have a population of about 50,000. The Himba tribe are nomads and mostly herd cattle.

They are very friendly to foreigners (tourists), but do not allow them to interfere or influence their culture. Even the government has put strict laws that prevent tourists from influencing their culture.

They have three notable cultural practices;

1) The first is that when someone visits a married Himba man, he has to offer one of his wives to the person to show how happy he is. The act of a man offering his wife to his guest is known as ‘Okujepisa Omukazendu’. The husband will sleep in a different hut and if he does not have another hut, he would sleep outside for the night.

2) Their second most notable cultural practice is that their women cover their hair and skin with a special type of mud paste called ‘otjize’. The females have different hairstyles for children, young girls undergoing puberty, girls who about to get married and married women.

3) Their third most noticeable cultural practice is that they do not have their bath with water, this does not mean they do not clean their body. Due to the scarcity of water, they clean their body with a red ‘otjize’ paste, it is a mixture of butterfat and ochre pigment. They use smoke from a special incense to make themselves sweat and the sweat is used as water to clean their body. The red ‘otjize’ paste is also used to protect their skin from the harsh sun.

4) The tribe worship a god called Mukuru, they believe they can talk to Mukuru by lighting a fire called ‘Okuruwo’.

5) The Himba people stick to porridge. Every morning and evening they heat some water, wait until it boils, and put some flour in it, maybe add some oil and food is served. The flour is mostly from maize, but from time to time you might find some mahangu flour as well. Mahangu is another name for pearl millet; it is a prevalent crop in Namibia since it performs well in soils with low fertility. On rare occasions, such as weddings, the Himba do eat meat, but this is more an exception than a rule.

124 Namibians Arrested For Dealing In Drugs

Police in Namibia have arrested 124 people for allegedly possessing and dealing in drugs worth more than N$10 million last month.

This was confirmed by police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi in a statement issued on Wednesday.

Among the 124 suspects were 100 Namibians, nine Zambians, eight Angolans, three Tanzanians, two Zimbabweans, one Ghanaian, and one Congolese national.

They were allegedly found in possession of cannabis, 7 Mandrax tablets, cocaine, mushrooms.

All of them are expected before court soon.

Namibian Woman allegedly gives birth at hospital unassisted

A WOMAN at Otjiwarongo State Hospital allegedly gave birth to her child in the hospital’s reception area unassisted last Friday.

Fabiola Katjitjivi (23) says she arrived at the hospital at 12h00 after going into labour.

Upon her arrival, Katjitjivi was allegedly left at the reception area unattended.

One of her aunts, who works at the hospital, tried to assist her, she says.

Katjitjivi says five nurses who were on duty ignored her.

She says she waited for an hour and thirty minutes before a nurse on duty took her to a room while waiting for the maternity ward to be prepared.

Katjitjivi says she had to wait there for another hour, before she finally gave birth unassisted.

She claims that when staff members eventually arrived, they told her she was giving the cleaner a lot of work, and asked why she did not give birth at home.

Katjitjivi was released from hospital on Saturday.

According to a nurse at the Otjiwarango State Hospital, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the maternity ward has a lack of beds.

The nurse said priority is ususally given to the maternity and casualty wards.

Katjitjivi has not filed an official complaint.

Otjozondjupa regional health director Gerbhardo Timotheus, when contacted for comment, said he was not aware of the incident, but said a similar incident has been brought to his attention.

“Patients who have been victim to such acts must come forward and report such incidents, as my doors are always open to the public,” he said.

Two women have paid for parallel obituaries for their departed husband in a local newspaper, thus lifting the lid on an intense love rivalry within the family.

According to information on the obituaries, the two wives placed a replica of the other, information-wise, save for where the marriage status of the deceased is written.

Lt. Col. (Rtd.) David Njoroge Mwaura, died on August 19, 2021, after a short illness and was married to the two even though it is reported he had divorced one of them.

A woman identified as Eunice Wanjiku is recognized in one obituary as the first wife to the deceased, but in the other, she is labelled as an ex-wife.

“Son of the late Kenneth Mwaura Kimani and the late Hellen Wanjiru of Giathieko village, Githunguri Sub County, Kiambu County. Beloved husband to Alice Nyambura and ex-husband to Eunice Wanjiku,” the first obituary reads in part.

The second obituary reads:

“Son of the late Kenneth Mwaura Kimani and the late Hellen Wanjiru of Giathieko village, Githunguri Sub County, Kiambu County. Beloved husband to Eunice Njeri and Alice Nyambura”.

The retired Lt. Col. will be buried on Thursday 26th in his home in Giathieko, Kiambu County.

Namibian Man Allegedly Takes Own Life After Fight With Wife

A 30-YEAR-OLD man allegedly committed suicide after a fight with his wife over a text message she received on her phone on Friday afternoon at !Goas, Khorixas.

The victim was identified as Melrico Michael Tiboth.

According to Kunene police deputy commissioner Paavo Iiyambo, the couple had a fight about the text message and the wife then went to a neighbour’s house.

“After about 30 minutes, she came back home to check on the husband, only to find him hanging from the roof with a yellow scarf tight around his neck,” Iiyambo said.

The deceased did not leave behind any suicide note and no foul play is suspected, said Iiyambo.

A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

Namibian Woman Found Dead After Visiting Toilet

A 33-YEAR-OLD woman was found dead at Khorixas after visiting a toilet last Saturday.

Josephine Haraes and her boyfriend had allegedly consumed traditional distilled liquor (ombike) the previous night before coming home drunk.

According to regional crime investigations coordinator deputy commissioner Paavo Iiyambo, Haraes was found dead just outside her room in Khorixas location by her boyfriend Ernst Matsuib (37).

“The body was inspected at the scene and bruises could be seen on the forehead, possibly inflicted when she fell,” Iiyambo said.

Her next of kin have been informed of her death.

Iiyambo said an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of Haraes’ death.

Alleged Conman Caught Red-Handed

A MAN was caught allegedly trying to withdraw cash he scammed from a Bank Windhoek customer on 29 July.

This was announced today in a media release issued by Bank Windhoek.

According to the statement, the suspect was caught by the police and the bank’s customer contact centre agent during a curfew patrol.

The suspect allegedly said his landlord needed the funds immediately when asked to explain the urgency of his midnight cash withdrawal.

His reasoning was thought to be suspect by the bank agent.

The man was then kept in police custody for contravening Covid-19 regulations.

The customer who sent the money was contacted by the bank and told them she received a call from the suspect disguising himself as a bank employee.

He got access to her bank account and PIN number in this way, she said.

“She was then asked to switch off her phone for updating purposes.

“Bank Windhoek would never call customers to ask for their banking details, especially the account PIN,” the bank’s statement read.

The bank’s forensic manager, Johnny Truter, said customers must not provide anyone with their PIN numbers.

Namibian Cop Shot In The Head Over Taxi Fare

EMERGENCY surgery was performed on a police officer in Windhoek on Tuesday after he was allegedly shot in the head by a taxi driver.

The incident allegedly took place at Omaruru on Sunday, after the taxi driver accused the officer of not paying his taxi fare.

Gerson Stephanus (48) appeared in the Omaruru Magistrate’s Court on Monday on a charge of attempted murder.

He will remain in custody until next month.

During this time Stephanus may apply for legal representation, and investigations will continue.

A police incident report issued by Erongo police spokesperson inspector Ileni Shapumba indicated that an argument erupted between Stephanus and constable Friedrich Abraham (35) on Sunday evening at Ondjoze near Omaruru’s municipal building.

Abraham is a member of the Omaruru police’s crime investigations unit.

“The driver decided to offload the victim with his luggage, instead of taking the victim to his destination. During the confrontation [Stephanus] observed [Abraham] placing his hand in his jacket, and it was at this point that he [Stephanus] allegedly took out his pistol and shot [Abraham] in his head, behind the right ear, causing serious injuries,” the police report read.

Abraham was off duty at the time of the incident.

Stephanus was arrested, and Abraham was transferred to Windhoek for emergency surgery.

JOESEPINA Johannes is not allowing her physical condition to get in the way of her education.

Born and raised at Oshigambo village in the Oshikoto region, the 12-year-old has no arms or legs and uses a wheelchair to get around.

Even though she is unable to do most things on her own like other children, Johannes believes education will one day open doors for her.

She is currently in Grade 5 at Nani Private School and excels in most of her subjects.

“I am disabled, but with faith and hope I believe one day I will be able to be somebody. I depend on my mother and siblings for assistance to move around the house, and I am grateful for having them in my life. I was born with a disability and I will have to learn how to live with it. I will not let it stand in my way,” she says.

Johannes is currently in dire need of a custom-made school desk to enable her to write and study more comfortably.

The desk she uses at school is too high, and she often falls off it, she says.

Johannes’ mother is currently unemployed, and her father is a pensioner who survives on the government’s monthly grant.

Her mother, Hilma Jeremia (45), says Johannes needs financial assistance to cover her basic needs.

She currently receives a monthly disability grant of N$250 from the government.

“It is not enough . . . Her wheelchair is old and she is in need of a new one, but we do not have money to buy her this. I often carry her on my back to and from school if there is no one to drive her to school,” Jeremia says.

She is asking for the public’s assistance with a custom-made wheelchair, which would help Johannes move around with ease, and would improve her concentration at school.

Johannes also needs cosmetics, food and clothes.

The mother of 10 describes her daughter as hard-working, smart and ambitious.

Inge Kambonde, Johannes’s Oshindonga teacher, says the special education department at the Oshikoto education directorate is in the process of acquiring artificial limbs for Johannes.

Kambonde currently accompanies Johannes and her mother to orthopedic therapy and training sessions at the Oshakati Intermediate Hospital.

“Johannes is a good pupil and is very friendly. Her performance is also good. She is never absent from school. She depends on other children to put her on a chair and to get of the chair again. During break time, she would stay in class, while the others are playing outside, because she is unable to get off her chair,” she says.

Kambonde says Johannes is likely to receive artificial limbs early next year.

Nani Private School principal Lungu Juvenalis says Johannes is a gifted pupil, and is good at visual arts.

“She can draw and write very well, and she is able to do almost everything a normal person can except getting on and off a chair on her own,” he says.

He says the government is doing its best to assist by providing her with stationery, school uniforms, and other necessities.

The Oniipa constituency office is also helping Johannes from time to time.

Constituency councillor Vilho Nuunyango could not be reached for comment.

Man Shot Dead By Security Guard

Namibia-A 34-year-old man was shot to death by a security guard in a house at Okapanda village in Oshikoto region on Friday.

The deceased, who is identified as Immanuel Amutse, was shot once on the back and died on the spot.

“It is further alleged that the deceased came inside the yard drunk with a bottle and stones, he found two security officers on duty guarding the house, argued with them and started throwing stones at them,” said Shikwabi.

Next of kin were informed. The firearm used was confiscated. Police investigations continue.

When you find them on their traditional attire, they look great while some have their bodies exposed like the women.

The Himba people in Namibia are a unique set of humans whose culture has a twist that most of people will frown upon.

The Himba are often called the Ovahimba or Omhimba people who live in the Kunene region of Namibia. If you are wondering why this tribe is strange, we can tell you one of their cultures.

They give sex for free to their guests and also they adorn newborn with bead necklaces.

As if these are not enough, the tribe lives in isolation and is wary of external contacts.

The people work hard to ensure that their beliefs and culture is not contaminated in any form by outsiders.

You can see why we are curious to know this people who have not accepted civilization.

The Himba people are predominately livestock breeders and farmers while their women are preoccupied with gathering firewood, cooking and serving meals and sourcing for freshwater.

Some of the villagers are socially inclined and very religious, reversing and worshiping their ancient gods.

Polygamy is welcome and young girls are married off at their early ages.

Though polygamy is not peculiar in Africa, it is practiced widely on the continent.

However, not taking their bath is strange. Before you are taking aback, the reason why they don’t bath with water is because of the harsh climatic situation in their region.

The Himba people lives in one of the most extreme environments; the harsh desert climate and the lack of potable water are the reasons why this tribe have difficulty getting a bath.

Their lack of bath routine doesn’t mean that they look less pretty. When you find them on their traditional attire, they look great while some have their bodies exposed like the women.

Since the taking of a bath is difficult, they make use of the red ochre on their skins and then make use of a daily smoke bath in order to maintain their hygiene.

A shouldering charcoal is dropped into a bowl filled with herbs and the smoke is allowed to ascend and the people bow over this smoking bowl and because of heat, the body perspires and helps in washing the body.

The people are friendly to strangers and visitors but will not allow any interference in their culture.

Namibian Cop Allegedly  Kills Taxi Driver

A POLICE officer allegedly shot and killed a taxi driver and injured his girlfriend, who was a passenger in the vehicle, on Wednesday night.

The incident allegedly happened along the road to Onamhinda at Oshikango in the Ohangwena region.

According to a witness, taxi driver Lebeus Wambili (31) and his girlfriend, Ndilimeke Mwalengelwange, were driving behind him.

“Just before 19:00 I told Wambili I was driving home as it was getting late, and he agreed to drive right behind me. On our way home a police vehicle approached me from the front and stopped my car, while Wambili continued along his path home. While one of the officers searched my vehicle, one leapt out of the vehicle and fired two shots at Wambili, bringing his vehicle to an abrupt standstill,” he claims.

He says the police simply continued searching his vehicle after the shooting.

“They continued searching my vehicle and found nothing. At the same time community members who heard the shooting gathered at the scene, but the police warned them not to go to the taxi.

“The crowd, however, became wild and eventually managed to get to the vehicle. That was when we saw one of the occupants, the driver, was shot dead through the back [of the vehicle], and the girlfriend was injured after also being shot through the back,” the witness claims.

He says community members managed to get the injured passenger out of the vehicle and rushed her to the Engela State Hospital.

Mwalengelwange was later transferred to the Oshakati State Hospital where she is said to be in a critical condition.

Ohangwena police spokesperson inspector Abner Iitumba confirmed the incident, but referred all queries to the headquarters of the Namibian Police in Windhoek.

National police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi confirmed the incident, and described it as unfortunate.

“It is a regrettable shooting incident indeed. Our crime prevention members were patrolling the area and spotted a Corolla with Oshakati registration number coming from the borders. The officers fired shots, of which one unfortunately hit the driver, who died on the spot, and wounding the passenger, who is hospitalised in a serious condition,” Shikwambi says.

She says Wambili was found to have been smuggling boxes of chickens from Angola.

Pavo Paulus, Wambili’s brother, has, however, refuted this.

“My brother was not a criminal. He and his girlfriend run a small business on the side of the border, where they stock up with food items such as chickens every now and then.

“They were coming from their business and were not running away or speeding. The police just shot at them.

“Since when is it illegal to carry chickens? We are aware that whisky, cigarette and fuel smuggling is illegal, and my brother was not involved in that. This was pure negligence,” Paulus says.

Namibian Man Hands Himself Over After Ex-Girlfriend Shooting

A 45-year-old man allegedly shot dead his ex-girlfriend following a disagreement on Thursday afternoon.

According to Omusati police regional commander, commisioner Titus Shikongo, the incident happened at Oshikuku in Omusati region.

Shikongo said the suspect and his eight-year-old daughter went to meet the deceased who was coming from Oshakati.

The deceased, identified as Eustella Andjamba, is the child’s mother.

“A disagreement started between the two while they were in the suspect’s vehicle,” he said.

The suspect stopped the vehicle near a soccer field and all three of them disembarked. The deceased allegedly started walking away while the suspect was opening the boot of his vehicle. He took his pistol from the boot and shot the deceased, Shikongo said.

“The suspect thereafter allegedly pointed the pistol to the daughter, fortunately the pistol developed a stoppage and couldn’t fire. He went into his vehicle and drove away but later handed himself at Oshikuku police station after a chase by members of community,” he said.

Namibian Man Hacks 101-Year-Old With Axe

A 30-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly attacked an 101-year-old neighbor with an axe on Monday morning.

Ohangwena police spokesperson inspector Kaume Itumba said the incident happened at Omakango village near Endola in Ohangwena region.

Itumba said the suspect hacked off the old man’s leg before chopping the hand and face. The old man died on the scene, Itumba said.

The deceased has been identified as Pashaalele Mweulinale. The suspect has been detained at Omungwelume police cells and is due to appear in Oshakati magistrate’s court on Wednesday.

Itumba said what led to the killing has not yet been established.

Woman allegedly raped while boyfriend takes videos

Namibia: A 28-year-old woman was allegedly raped by her boyfriend’s friend on Saturday while he allegedly watched.

The victim’s boyfriend was allegedly capturing videos of the rape.

The incident took place at around 12h00 and 14h00 in Johannes Nakwafila Street, Kuisebmond, Walvis Bay.

According to the police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, the victim was allegedly heavily intoxicated at the time of the incident.

The victim’s 31-year-old boyfriend, who is a soldier at the Namibian Defence Force, and the 25-year-old unemployed suspect, were both arrested.

In another separate incident from Namibia, a 17-year-old boy was arrested on Saturday after he allegedly raped an 11-year-old boy.

The incident took place in Otjovihe village, Opuwo. The suspect was arrested and will be released under the care of his parents or guardian.
