THAILAND – A 65-year-old woman in Nonthaburi, on the outskirts of Bangkok, shocked her family when she knocked from inside her coffin after being declared dead.

Chonthirat Sakulkoo, who had been unwell for two years, was cared for by her brother, Mongkol Sakulkoo. When she was found unresponsive, Mongkol assumed she had passed away and began preparations for her cremation.

“All the documents had been issued, and we placed her in a coffin,” Mongkol explained.

However, before the cremation, Mongkol took Chonthirat to Chulalongkorn University Hospital to fulfill her wish to donate organs, but the hospital refused to accept her without an official death certificate.

At the Wat Rat Prakongtham crematorium, staff also insisted on a doctor’s certification before proceeding. It was during this discussion that Chonthirat suddenly knocked from inside the coffin.

Mongkol, surprised, asked to have the coffin opened, where family members were stunned to see her eyes slightly open and knocking.

Doctors later diagnosed Chonthirat with acute hypoglycaemia, a condition that causes dangerously low blood sugar and can mimic death-like symptoms.

She is now receiving proper medical care at Bang Yai Hospital.

A 28-year-old woman from Kampala, Ghana, has recounted her unique story of becoming pregnant at the age of 16 despite claiming to be a v!rgin.

NIGERIA – Police operatives from the Ejigbo Division in Lagos have arrested Pastor Anthony Israel of the Jesus Disciples Assembly Church for allegedly killing AbdulRahman Olugbade, a 17-year-old, and secretly burying him in an incomplete room. The incident occurred on Monday, September 2, 2024, at Jesus Assembly Street in the Omoguwa area of Ejigbo. Pastor Israel had been given free accommodation by the deceased’s mother, Mrs. Temitope Olugbade.

The motive behind the murder, which occurred while AbdulRahman was sleeping, has not been disclosed by the police. It is alleged that Pastor Israel used a knife to slit the victim’s throat and then borrowed a shovel and hammer from a neighbor to dig a shallow grave in an uncompleted room. The crime was discovered when the landlady’s dog’s persistent barking drew attention to the disturbed area.

The deceased’s younger brother became suspicious when he couldn’t find AbdulRahman and went to investigate the dog’s barking. He found the area disturbed and raised an alarm, leading to the neighbors’ intervention. Pastor Israel had fled but was later apprehended by the community the following day.

During a visit to the scene, neighbors expressed shock, describing AbdulRahman as a quiet and hardworking young man. Mrs. Temitope Olugbade was also in shock, explaining that she had provided accommodation to Pastor Israel due to his housing problems and was devastated to learn of the murder.

At the Ejigbo Police Division, members of Pastor Israel’s church gathered in disbelief, awaiting updates on the case. The Ejigbo DPO, CSP Vera Akpa-Ameh, has ordered the exhumation of the body for an autopsy.

The DPO was reported to be out for routine monitoring, but sources indicated that Pastor Israel will be transferred to the SCID Yaba for further investigation and could face life imprisonment if charged and convicted under state criminal laws.

The Malawi Police Service has arrested a 42-year-old man, Christopher Manyika, from Zomoja village, Traditional Authority Mlauli in Neno district, following an incident involving coffins believed to be connected to wealth rituals.

The arrest came after police received a tip-off about Manyika and his accomplice, Henry Kapakasa, transporting coffins from their residence to Chifenthe village ground around midnight.

According to S/Supt Blessings Chikwatu, Station Officer for Neno Police Station, the suspects were caught red-handed carrying the coffins. Upon noticing the police, the men attempted to flee, dropping the coffins. Manyika was apprehended, while Kapakasa managed to escape.

“Upon being interviewed, Manyika revealed that they were working under the supervision of a herbalist who claimed that the coffins would turn into vehicles,” Chikwatu reported.

The suspects will face court charges for conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend Kapakasa and the herbalist involved.

Being separated, the father went to the mom’s house and asked to take the baby for a play date as he usually does.

He was to return the kid after two hours but, by evening the baby daddy was unreachable and it was getting late.

The mother decided to go to his place only to find people gathered outside his house.

“My husband came and wanted me to return, but I vowed never to risk my life again. Of course, I said a big ‘NO.’ I came here in 1977 and married another husband. He was different; he was kind and told me not to worry about having children. He said he has already had all children he needed, that he just wanted someone who would be by his side and looks/cares for him. He always cares for me and made me feel special. He was totally different from my first husband, and that’s when I started feeling the advantages of marriage.

“Before due to the scars I carried, I had in mind that marriage was useless, but when I married my second partner, I reaped the benefits of being married. He was a husband made from heaven but I was still pregnant but when I would go in the garden to do some cultivation i would not manage it due to pregnancy I will just get tired without doing a single activity. My husband was a hero, I mean the second one. Whenever he saw me suffering in the field, he would come nearer and always telling me to rest and take care of myself.”

“I was not able to produce any child, yet I was pregnant. He looked at me and said, ‘I will never chase you away because you can’t produce children. It’s okay; I will raise those I produced aside.’ We lived peacefully in harmony; we never had misunderstandings and loved one another as if we were newlywed couples until recently when he breathed his last and went to heaven.

“After coming and living with my second husband, I believed in Christ and got baptized in water, so I turned into a new creature. My mom and I have been going to church for fellowship, but my mom can no longer manage to step out and go to church. It’s been 5 years since my mom was no longer doing a single activity.”
