A 21-year-old woman, Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, died after falling from a bridge during a bungee jumping event in Limeira, São Paulo, Brazil, on Saturday.

Witnesses alleged that she was thrown from the bridge without being attached to a safety rope, causing her to fall about 40 metres to the ground.

A video circulating on social media reportedly shows staff pushing her from the bridge before onlookers noticed the rope had been left behind.

Rescue teams, including a police helicopter, were dispatched to the scene, but she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

De Freitas, a physical education and sports management graduate, had earlier shared photos and videos from the event on social media.

Authorities arrested six people in connection with the incident, including three who were charged with homicide. Investigators say the event organisers allegedly lacked proper authorization and are examining whether negligence led to the fatal accident.

Danish footballer Christian Eriksen was hospitalised after collapsing during Denmark’s friendly match against Ukraine on Tuesday night.

The incident occurred in the 65th minute in Odense, prompting the match to be abandoned. Eriksen reportedly grabbed his chest before falling to the ground, with medical personnel rushing onto the pitch to assist him.

Denmark team doctor Morten Boesen said the midfielder was briefly unconscious but regained consciousness quickly. Boesen added that Eriksen was able to walk off the pitch on his own and is in stable condition.

The 34-year-old previously suffered a cardiac arrest during Denmark’s Euro 2020 match against Finland in 2021. Following that incident, he was fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) and later resumed his professional career.

Mayor Akmad Ampatuan of Shariff Aguak in Maguindanao del Sur, Philippines, survived an assassination attempt on Sunday morning after his armored vehicle withstood a grenade attack by armed suspects.

CCTV footage shows the assailants alighting from a white minivan and firing a grenade launcher at the mayor’s black SUV in Barangay Poblacion around 6:20 a.m.

The mayor was inside his bulletproof vehicle at the time and escaped unharmed, although his backup pickup truck was hit by bullets.

Two of his security escorts sustained non-life-threatening injuries and are receiving treatment at the Bangsamoro Regional and Medical Center.

Following the attack, a joint police and Army pursuit led to the killing of three suspected ambushers.

Authorities say this was the fourth attack targeting Ampatuan, following previous incidents in 2010, 2014, and 2019.

A high-ranking Tren de Aragua gang leader died after falling from an eighth-floor balcony while trying to escape a police raid in Colombia.

Ender Alexis Rojas Montan, 31, was the head of the gang’s Alayon Dynasty faction.

He plunged to his death on October 9 as Colombian National Police forced their way into his Antioquia apartment with a battering ram.

Body camera footage captured the moment Rojas Montan attempted to climb down from the balcony but lost his grip.

He fell eight stories and died instantly upon impact, as seen in disturbing video footage.

An officer looked over the railing and saw the gang leader’s body lying motionless on the sidewalk below. A shocked passerby stood nearby as police secured the scene from above.

Inside the apartment, police ordered suspects to the ground at gunpoint.

One shirtless man immediately surrendered, raising his hands and kneeling beside a small dog running around the room.
Another person tried hiding under a thick blanket in a nearby bedroom.

During the search, police found hidden contraband, including a fragmentation grenade and a pound of amphetamines worth about $9,550.

Three suspected gang members were arrested at the scene: Luis Alberto Cabeza Calderon, Yonathan Samuel Urbina Rodriguez, and Daviannys del Jesus Moya Avila.

All three are Venezuelan nationals and allegedly key figures in the gang’s Colombian operations. Cabeza Calderon, also known as “Toro,” is believed to be a close associate of the gang’s top leader, Hector Rusthenford Guerrero Flores.

Guerrero Flores has been wanted in Peru since 2023 for crimes including drug trafficking and extortion.

The raid, called “Operation Shadow 3,” was a joint effort between Colombian, Chilean, and Peruvian authorities, with support from the DEA and Ameripol.

Rojas Montan had fled Chile in June 2024 and moved to Colombia to help expand the gang’s influence in the Aburrá Valley region.

He was wanted internationally for aggravated kidnapping and his ties to the violent Venezuelan-founded Tren de Aragua gang.

PERU – Ciro Quispe López, the 51-year-old bishop of Juli in Peru, has resigned following allegations that he maintained relationships with 17 secret mistresses.

She promptly filed a complaint with the Catholic Church, triggering a Vatican investigation.

SPAIN – A Brazilian couple tragically died while celebrating their four-year-old daughter’s birthday. Jeferson Luiz Sagaz, a 37-year-old military police officer, and Ana Carolina Silva, a 41-year-old nail salon owner, were found dead in a motel hot tub in São José, Santa Catarina.

The couple had spent the day drinking at a food park, went to a nightclub, and checked into the Dallas Motel late that night.

They were last seen around 11:30 p.m., and failed to pick up their daughter the next day from Jeferson’s sister.

Concerned relatives reported them missing, prompting a search. Their bodies were found in a bathtub filled with 50°C water, with a space heater running at high temperature.

An autopsy revealed exogenous poisoning caused by extreme heat, leading to heatstroke, dehydration, and organ failure. Toxicology reports showed high alcohol levels and traces of cocaine.

Investigators ruled out foul play, electric shock, drowning, or gas poisoning after extensive forensic analysis.

Ana Carolina’s family denied she was a regular drug user and raised questions about potential forced substance use.

Tragedy struck at Safari World Bangkok when a 58-year-old zookeeper, Jian Rangkharasamee, was mauled to death by a pride of lions.

The veteran keeper, who had worked with lions for nearly 30 years, was attacked after stepping out of his jeep inside the lion enclosure.

According to eyewitnesses, a lion quietly approached from behind and pounced on him before several others joined in.

Tourists watching the scene screamed and honked their horns in a desperate attempt to stop the attack.

However, the lions continued to maul Rangkharasamee for about 15 minutes before staff could intervene.

He was rushed to Intrarat Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Professor Tavatchai Kanchanarin, who witnessed the incident, described how the lions dragged and bit the zookeeper without hesitation.

Police believe Rangkharasamee violated safety protocols by exiting the vehicle in the restricted area.

The safari park enforces a strict no-exit rule in the drive-through zone for both visitors and staff.

A fellow keeper, Phanom Sitsaeng, responded after hearing horns but was too late to save his colleague.

The Department of National Parks has since ordered a temporary closure of the safari zone for safety reviews.

A senior park official emphasized that all 32 lions are licensed and that safety rules are regularly reinforced.

A man k!lled his wife and her lover on Tuesday night, September 9, in Tamil Nadu’s Kallakurichi district, India.

Police said Kolanji, aged 48, a woodcutter, suspected his wife Lakshmi, aged 37, of having an affair with Thangarasu, so he set a trap for them by sayibg he was going out.

After pretending to be away from home, Kolanji returned and found the two together on the terrace. He attacked them with a sickle, k!lled them, and severed their heads.

He then tied the heads to his two-wheeler and rode to Vellore Central Jail, where he surrendered to police.

Vanjaram police recovered the headless bodies from the house and arrested him.  Visuals from the scene showed the headless bodies lying in a pool of blood.

Villagers gathered near the house when police arrived, and Vanjaram police recovered the bodies.

The couple’s three daughters have been left in the care of relatives as Kolanji remains in judicial custody.
