Rambo was ever the proud papa Saturday Night in LA, where he enjoyed the evening with his three beautiful daughters; Sophia, 21, Sistine, 19, and Scarlet, 15.

The Rocky actor wrapped his arm around Sistine, who looked glam in a strapless black top and chic slacks.

Although American Pop star Madonna vehemently rejected that she is in the country to adopt two twins namely Stella and Esther, Ministry of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare spokesperson Lucy Bandazi confirmed of the development in an interview with Dailymail.

Madonna who sneaked in the country secretly was on Wednesday spotted at Lilongwe High Court filing for an adoption bid for two Children.

The development was confirmed by Judicial Spokesperson Mlenga Mvula in an interview just after the court session.

The reports then went viral on social media with others questioning the move, forcing the pop star to dismiss claims, saying she is in the country to inspect her charity work projects.

“The rumours of an adoption process are untrue.

“I am in Malawi to check on the children’s hospital in Blantyre and my other work with Raising Malawi and then heading home,” Madonna was quoted as saying in the Dailymail.

But Bandazi has contradicted Madonna by saying all the paperwork for an adoption has been submitted and the application was being carefully considered.

“Madonna has lodged an application with the High Court to adopt two girls. They are aged four years old,” she said.

“All the necessary paperwork is before the High Court and they will make the ultimate decision if the adoption can go ahead.”

Madonna first adopted David Banda from an orphanage in 2006 and Mercy James in 2009.

Madonna has come out clean on claims that were all over the media and social network that she has come to Malawi to adopt two more children.

The rumours came in after the Judiciary Spokesperson, Mlenga Mvula told the local and international media that the court was assessing her adoption application.

The US Pop star was seen on Wednesday at the court with two children (unknown) before she left on SUV vehicle.

Right after winning Top Touring Artist at the Billboard Music Awards Sunday night, we caught up with Madonna backstage for a quick chat. The pop icon discussed her upcoming MDNA concert special, new album rumors and her charitable initiatives in Africa and beyond.

At the Billboard Music Awards, Madonna also spoke about her continued commitment to girls education and outreach in Malawi and beyond.
‘I continue to do my work there,’ she said, noting that her organization had recently finished building 10 schools, ‘which I’m very proud of,’ and that she continues ‘to do work with various orphanages, hospitals, medical trainees, supporting doctors (and) pediatricians.’
She continued, saying how she’s ‘trying to expand’ her efforts ‘beyond Malawi to other parts of the world.’
As part of that charitable expansion, she recently sold a Fernand Leger painting for $7.2 million, the proceeds of which will benefit her Ray of Light Foundation that supports girls’ education projects in the Middle East, South Asia and Africa.
The 1921 painting, titled ‘Trois Femmes a la Table Rouge,’ was sold at a Sotheby’s auction on May 7, exceeding pre-sale expectations. Madonna had owned the work since 1990, when she bought it at Sotheby’s for $3.4 million.

There have been many reports regarding Madonna’s recent visit to Malawi. Some of these reports include inaccurate information and accusations by the Malawian Government on Madonna’s character and the work of her foundation Raising Malawi. Despite the accusations, Madonna and her organization Raising Malawi remains committed to the health and education of the children of Malawi.

“I was very happy to visit with the children of Malawi earlier this month and to see with my own eyes the ten new primary schools in Kasungu province that Raising Malawi and buildOn completed this past year. These schools are now educating more than 4,800 children with girls attending in equal numbers. These children who were formerly learning outside on the ground, in unsafe buildings or not at all, now get to attend classes on a daily basis. My children and I were overjoyed to visit these schools and see what amazing progress has been made. I will continue to follow through on my commitment to help educate the children of Malawi. Madonna originally planned on building a Girls Academy in the impoverished country but realized that a more sustainable model would be to build smaller schools in villages around the country with buildOn who have had 20 years of success building schools in Africa. The original team that Raising Malawi first put in place included Anjimile Oponyo, the sister of Malawi’s current President Joyce Banda. Due to major organizational problems that occurred during that time, the original team was disbanded. President Banda has since appointed her sister to a senior post within the Ministry of Education. Madonna’s decision to change course on her education projects has subsequently been met by deep resistance from Oponyo, the President, and the Ministry of Education. But Madonna is not letting politics stand in the way of her deep commitment to help build schools there and educate as many children as possible.

In addition to the school projects, Raising Malawi has spent millions of dollars in Malawi to support orphans and vulnerable children through multiple community-based organizations. This includes Home of Hope which supported 595 beneficiaries including orphans, vulnerable children and their caregivers in 2012 alone. Raising Malawi also supports Dr. Eric Borgstein, one of three pediatric surgeons in Malawi. Dr. Borgstein performed more than 500 surgeries in 2012 alone and he sees thousands of children each year.

Pop star Madonna has responded to Malawi State House statement accusing her of bullying and blackmailing government to “blast a 21 gun salute and roll red carpet for her”.

Madonna spending her fourth day in the southern African country of Malawi Thursday, picked up ailing children and joked with them when she visited an overcrowded children’s ward in Blantyre, the country’s largest city.

“Muli bwanji? (How are you?)” she greeted them in Malawi’s main language, Chichewa.

Madonna, with her son, Rocco, went to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, which she has been supporting for five years through its chief pediatrician, Dr. Eric Borgstein.

“Eric Borgstein is a hero of mine” said Madonna. “He is doing a wonderful job.”

The ward performs at least 500 surgeries per year on poor children, said Borgstein.

Madonna is the largest individual donor to the hospital and funds programs run by Borgstein that include treating children with cancer, said Trevor Neilson, president of the Global Philanthropy Group that is managing Madonna’s projects in Malawi.

Born and raised in Malawi, Borgstein said he studied medicine at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands before to returning to his home country. Borgstein said he has been working in children’s health for 15 years, treating up to 40 patients daily. Malawi has only three pediatric surgeons, said Borgstein.

He is currently a partner of Raising Malawi, the non-profit organization Madonna co-founded with Michael Berg in 2006 to help Malawian children.

Later Thursday Madonna was scheduled to meet with United States Ambassador to Malawi Jeanine Jackson.

On Friday, Madonna and her travelling party are scheduled to visit Consol Homes Orphan Care Centre, 50 kilometres (31 miles) outside the capital, Lilongwe, where Kaballah teachings are practiced, according to a media advisory sent by her management consultants, Global Philanthropy.

Madonna and her children were greeted with song and dance by hundreds of orphans on Wednesday, when they visited an orphanage in Malawi.

The pop star said she was happy to be back at the Home of Hope orphanage, where she adopted her son David Banda, in the western district of Mchinji near the border with Zambia.

“I’m happy that David is back to see his brothers and sisters,” she said.

David, now 8, was accompanied by his sister Mercy James, who is 8 and also adopted from Malawi, and their siblings, Rocco and Lourdes.

US pop star Madonna arrived in Malawi Monday morning amid accusations of abandoning construction of a multi-million dollar girls’ school.

Madonna has not been in Malawi for the last two years and now faces a new administration under President Joyce Banda.

Kamuzu International Airport immigration officials in the capital, Lilongwe confirmed that Madonna arrived at 9am local time. The singer arrived with David Banda, adopted in 2006 and Mercy James, in 2009.

Madonna visited the schools which she helped to fund and held talks with President Joyce Banda, in a bid to defuse a row over the star’s charitable work.

Madonna’s Raising Malawi charity claimed to have built 10 schools but Education minister Eunice Kazembe had said they were classroom blocks, and not schools.

Trevor Nielson, Madonna’s philanthropy manager who was brought in after she failed to build a state-of-the-art girls’ school under Kabbalah management incorrectly insists that 3,800 children are going to school now who were not going to school before.

The Ministry of Education last year accused Madonna of being more interested in promoting her global image than helping with education. The ministry disputes that the 3,800 children were not going to school.

The pop superstar, who has adopted two children from the African nation, flew in to the country on Easter Sunday (31Mar13) and spent the day visiting orphanages in the capital city Lilongwe.

She also plans to visit the 10 schools which have been constructed by the BuildOn organisation in conjunction with her Raising Malawi charity.

The education facilities have now reportedly opened and Madonna will be visiting students there during her trip.

Malawi education authorities on Thursday challenged a claim by American pop queen Madonna that her charity last year built 10 new schools in the poor southern African nation.

“The schools Raising Malawi claims to have constructed were already in existence,” Education Minister Eunice Kazembe said.

“Raising Malawi only built 10 classroom blocks and not schools. People should know the difference between the two.”

In December Madonna’s charity in tandem with global non-profit buildOn, announced the completion of 10 schools, claiming they would provide education to 4,871 children.

“I am overjoyed that my commitment along with buildOn’s to help educate the children of Malawi has come to fruition,” Madonna said in a statement issued at the time.

Malawi’s education minister said the country wanted to “clarify any misconceptions that may arise.”

It is not the first time the diva has had trouble with education projects in the country which is the native home of two of her adopted children.

In 2009, to great fanfare, she laid the foundation stone for a $15million (£9.4m) elite academy for girls in Chinkota village, not far from the national capital, Lilongwe. Madonna reportedly invested $11m of her own money in the project, which was also backed by the singer’s Kabbalah associates.

A year later, however, the school’s construction was cancelled and its local staff sacked, after a report accused them of “extreme mismanagement”.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin called pop star Madonna a “whore” after the singer urged authorities to free Pussy Riot musicians facing up to seven years in prison over a February performance at a Moscow cathedral criticizing officials.

“Every former tart who has aged wants to give lectures about morals, especially during tours and gigs abroad,” Rogozin wrote on his Twitter microblog late Wednesday, using an expletive Russian word for “tart.” He was apparently referring to Madonna’s roles in movies involving sex episodes.

More than 200 families in village headman Chinkhota 1 under Traditional Authority Chitukula in Lilongwe district believe they have been cheated big time.

Two years ago, the villagers were forced to sell their land, which has resulted into hunger while their 117 acres farmland, once the bread basket of the area, has been rendered useless as it was allocated to a failed project by American pop idol Madonna.

The project in question is the multi-million girls’ academy which never materialised.

The community is now counting the losses of a project that started with a lot of promise but ended sadly as currently the people have no land to cultivate crops.

The media has also learnt that government officials allegedly pocketed millions of kwacha over the impoverished community by inflating figures in the process of compensation.

A visit by the media to the area last weekend found villagers furious at the way the saga has unfolded, leaving village headman Chinkhota 1 to deal with the aftermath alone.

“Since the land was taken away from us, when government officials from Lilongwe led by a Mr. Mwenda, we have had to put up with a hoard of problems.

“We were cheated on the issue of compensation while our land was sacrificed because we were told if we did not release it government would take it anyway without compensation. This left the villagers with no choice.

“In fact, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) showed us evidence in 2010 that we were indeed short-changed when they brought a cash register showing inflated figures,” said Chinkhota.

Chinkhota claimed ACB officials declared the underpayment when it was revealed that those who got K40,000 were supposed to get K280,000 while villagers who received K80,000 would have walked home with K480,000.

Visible signs of desolation and abject poverty were evident as empty maize barns were seen during our tour while the land remained graded and graveled rendering it unsuitable for farming.

Chinkhota 1 says he regrets the decision to bring to his area a project that has left his subjects landless their land was taken up by Madonna’s Raising Malawi Project.

Madonna adopted two children from Malawi, David Banda and Mercy James in 2006 and 2009 respectively.

Last year, the pop star announced that she will no longer build the multi-million dollar girls academy she promised.

But despite the villagers pointing fingers at the Lilongwe District Council as the architects of the problem, District Commissioner Paul Kalilombe blamed it on the confusion that ensued at the beginning of the project.

“The process was done in a transparent manner as all key stakeholders including the villagers were briefed on the exercise,” said Kalilombe.

“The villagers might have felt aggrieved and cheated because initially procedures were not followed. Raising Malawi initially dealt with the villagers directly and the prices quoted for the land were indeed relatively higher.”

But Kalilombe said upon the realization that the land was part of the city planning area thus under the jurisdiction of government, the Department of Lands was involved in the assessment together with the council and other stakeholders.

“It is true that the figures calculated using government guidelines were not in tandem with what the villagers had quoted Raising Malawi earlier. ACB took up the matter but we have not had any feedback on the progress nor the results of the investigation. No council officials have been charged or convicted.

“To make it clear, it was the Department of Lands that came up with the figures and not Lilongwe District Council,” he added.

According to Kalilombe, K22 million was dispensed in compensation to the villagers, although some gave up their land for free.

Kalilombe also acknowledged the food problems saying government, through the council will assist those that are food insecure once assessments are conducted.

He ruled out the possibility of the people getting back the land.

“In agreeing to receive compensation, the villagers waived their rights to the land and a lease document was issued in favour of Raising Malawi. It was assumed that the compensation would be used to acquire alternative land or a means of survival for the villagers,” he said.

When contacted, the ACB said it had concluded its investigations.

“Indeed ACB commenced and concluded investigations into the matter. The file at the moment is with the Bureau’s Prosecutions and Legal Section for them to issue a legal opinion on the investigations team’s findings and recommendations,” said Egrita Ndala, the bureau’s senior public relations officer.

“The Bureau cannot divulge the findings of the investigations at this point as the information is not yet in the public domain. Suffice to say that the matter is being given required attention by the Anti-Corruption Bureau,” she said.

Raising Malawi officials, whose charity organisation was founded by Madonna and Micheal Berg in 2006, could not be reached for comment.

Madonna, through her organisation, started working on the site and are said to have spent US$3.8 million (about K1 billion) in 2010. The launch took place in 2011.

Over 100 thousand euros for the project already announced the construction of 10 new schools for children of Malawi. The case was finally settled out of court, with Madonna agreeing to pay about $150,000 to Oponyo and other dismissed workers. The whole episode left a bad taste behind for all concerned. Now Oponyo’s sister is president of the country. And Joyce Banda has her own successful foundation and charity in Malawi that builds schools and helps children.

Joyce Banda became president Saturday and is the country’s first woman leader. Former president Bingu wa Mutharika died of a heart attack on April 5.

Madonna adopted two Malawian children and started the charity, Raising Malawi, in 2006. It assists orphanages and other aid programs in the country.

The singer called Banda “amazing” and said she interviewed the 62-year-old for her 2008 documentary, “I Am Because We Are,” about Malawian orphans who lost family members to HIV/AIDS.

Adds Madonna: “She was really into girls being educated in Africa, which is a good thing. So, I’m glad.”
