A Second Year Power and Electrical-Craft Student at Choma’s St. Mawaggali Training Institute In Zambia has reportedly committed suicide at his family house in Mochipapa area in the early hours of Wednesday.

A deceased identified as Royd Hachampa, is said to have consumed an insecticide around 21:00 hours, but his mum was still awake at the time, hence managing to rush him to Choma General Hospital.

He is stated to have passed on around 05:00 hours at his house after he had been discharged from hospital.

Malambo Muyuni, a course-mate to the decease gave the narration of event and had rushed to the funeral house following news of the incident.

Muyuni stated that the deceased’s student colleagues have been left wondering as to what may have prompted him to take his life as he did not exhibit such intentions in prior interactions.

Police are yet to issue a statement on the suspected suicide act.

Tragedy has struck in Ntchisi district as a 25-year-old man has taken his own life over marital issues.

Peter Maxwell is believed to have ended his life after a heated argument with his wife, according to authorities.

Sergeant Yohane Tasowana, the Public Relations Officer for Ntchisi Police Station, confirmed that Maxwell committed suicide using a mosquito net rope in front of his 3-year-old child.

The child alerted the mother, but unfortunately, it was too late to save Maxwell’s life.

According to police reports, the argument was sparked by Maxwell coming home drunk and his wife threatening to divorce him. This statement apparently did not sit well with Maxwell, leading to the fatal outcome.

The police are investigating the matter and offering their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

This tragedy serves as a reminder of the importance of seeking help when facing difficulties in relationships and the need to address mental health issues.

A 22-year-old student has hanged himself on a tree a few meters from the School Football ground at Euthini Secondary School in the district.

The deceased has been identified as a Form three student, Samuel Jonathan Mjima 22, who hailed from Nkhalamu Village in Traditional Authority Mpherembe in Mzimba District.

The incident occurred on January 28, 2023 during evening hours at Euthini Secondary School.

Mjima left a suicide note in which he mentioned chronic sickness to have prompted him to commit suicide.

Euthini Police accompanied by Medical personnel from Euthini Health Center visited the scene, and the post-mortem conducted revealed the cause of death as suffocation secondary to strangulation.

Police in Mzimba are advising students in the district to find better ways of solving their problems instead of terminating own lives.

A 16 year old student at Kamuzu Academy in Kasungu District Kelvin Moses has died by suicide after he hanged himself in boys’ hostel

Kasungu police publicist Joseph Kachikho confirmed the incident.

According to reports, Moses took his life after he was summoned for a disciplinary hearing by management after he was found with condoms in his locker.

Kachikho said Moses killed himself when his colleagues were in class.

“It is reported that the boarding master found condoms in his locker, contrary to Kamuzu Academy’s rules and regulations and was summoned for disciplinary hearing the following day. He took his own life at around 1500 hours in the hostel when his friends were in class,” Kachikho said.

The matter was reported to police who visited the scene in the company of medical personnel and postmortem results revealed that death was due to suffocation.

The student hailed from Subi Village in the area of Traditional Authority Khombedza in Salima District.

A tragic incident occurred in Mzimba where a man took his own life after his wife denied him sexual advances.

According to a suicide note left behind by the man, he claimed that his wife had been denying him sexual intercourse for four weeks.

The note was found by the police who were investigating the case.

The man’s identity has not been revealed to the public, but local authorities have confirmed that they are investigating the matter.

The police are currently interviewing the man’s family and friends to gather more information about the situation and the events leading up to his suicide.

Two men have died after committing suicide in separate incidents, at Soche location in Blantyre.

According to Blantyre Police deputy spokesperson Aubrey Singanyama,  Makhalira Lino,48, took his own life by hanging himself in a Masuku tree, at Soche Hill Forest on January 7.

“Children who were playing nearby saw the deceased hanging in the said tree about half a kilometer from Soche Quarry market.

“The local community policing chairman was notified right away by the kids, who also informed Soche Police of the incident.

“We rushed to the scene and took the body to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival,” said Singanyama.

Meanwhile, the dead body is being kept at the medical facility pending postmortem.

Makhalira Lino hailed from Chemboma village in the area of Traditional Authority Somba in Blantyre District.

In a separate but similar incident in the same area, Pindani Jack, 40, of Muthere village in the area of Traditional Authority Nkhumba in Phalombe District died after committing suicide by hanging in a Mango Tree.

“Reports indicate that, on January 7, 2023 at around 1800hours the deceased was seen going home from his work  at a certain maize mill.

“Then the following morning on January 8,2023, Pindani Jack was found hanging in a Mango tree,” police further said.

The matter was reported to Soche Police who took the body to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital where death was confirmed as a result of strangulation.

Meanwhile, Police in Blantyre are strongly condemning acts of suicide and are therefore, advising people to find and approach relevant authorities and subjects for assistance in times of need.

A Malawian primary school teacher Daniel Banda has killed himself inside a Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church over what he described, in a suicide note as unmanageable debts.

Banda was teaching at Magogo Primary School, Elunyeni Zone in Mzimba district.

According to the suicide note Banda left, he narrated that he had debts with a lot of lending institutions and other companies in an attempt to balance his small salary.

A fellow teacher, name withheld, confirmed that Banda had complained to him about his financial situation and hinted that he would commit suicide.

He said; “Banda had debts all over. Almost every lending institution in a bid to, among others, pay school fees for children and fed for his family. The situation was hopeless.  He just decided to commit suicide.”

This is happening at a time cases of suicides are escalating in the country over related financial problems.

Police reports show that over 300 people have committed suicide from last year.

Meanwhile, people are urged to desist from normalizing suicide as a solution to their problems.

A 23 year old Mikolongwe Vocational College student, Darthan Mandala has died after committing suicide at Manase Township in Blantyre.

Blantyre Police Deputy Spokesperson, Aubrey Singanyama says the deceased took away his life after being confronted by his parents following a fight he had with a fellow student at the school.

“After being confronted by the parents, the deceased took all his belongings from the house and went to an unknown destination,” explains Singanyama.

It is further reported that a neighbor found late Mandala hanging in a mango tree in the wee hours of Wednesday within his father’s compound by a neighbor.

Postmortem results show Mandala died of suffocation due to strangulation.

He hailed from Baluti Village in the area of Traditional Authority Somba in Blantyre.

According to reports, the Kapiri Mposhi teacher, engaged herself in massive debts.

However, she failed to pay back her debtors who were on her neck demanding their money back.

After seeing that she will not be able to pay them back, the teacher resorted to taking her own life.

A 17 year old girl in Nigeria has killed herself after her mother stopped her from seeing her boyfriend.

Taiwo’s mother did not allow her daughter to continue seeing her boyfriend, a 19-year-old who graduated high school in 2021.

Taiwo is said to have put something poisonous in the drink she was drinking on Friday, October 21, 2022.

Her death occurred in the Lagos neighborhood of Dalemo Alakuko on the same day she took the poison.

According to some other accounts, the reason that Taiwo took her own life had nothing to do with her love life.

28 year old Zambian man Ivan Sinyamunwa has killed himself in unclear circumstances.

Sinyamunwa was working as an auto shop at Lusaka’s Town Centre and killed himself by drinking poison.

Reports has it that he left a suicide note but people failed to read it because it was soaked wet.

He has left behind a set of twins which got people assume that he might ended his life due to financial woes.

This comes just after a day another Zambian man killed himself after wrote his goodbyes on Facebook.

A YOUTHFUL Ndola-based Chemical Engineer and graduate of the Copperbelt University, Zambia, Brighton Mfune yesterday took to Facebook, posted final farewell message before taking a pesticide to end his own life.

The 29 year old was also an avid scrabble player afflianted to Copperbelt University.

Mfune posted “Bye bye” on his Facebook account before ending his own life!

Until his death, Mfune who resided in Ndola’s New Mushili worked for Dangote Cement as Chemical Engineer and is survived by his parents and one child.

His friends and former school mates are expressing their shock on social media.

“I saw your post early in the morning… Little did I know it was this kind of bye… This is shocking… Rest In Peace Bro!!!,” wrote Marvin Vexy Mulemena.

Another one of his friends, Sam Banda wrote, It was hard to interpret ur post this morning “bye bye,”U could hav shared the problem unlike just deciding to leave like that. This is saddest way of solving issues, seeeing u growing as intelligent and respectful child gave us so much hope that u’ll give us bright fruits …May u go well young bro till we meet.

A Malawian lady only identified as Sophie has allegedly taken her own life in Chinyonga, Blantyre.

According to reports, the lady took her life last night and her body was discovered this morning.

At the moment no one knows reasons that led Sophie to kill herself.

Police are yet to comment on the matter.

This come barely few hours after another 24 year old lady also took her own life in Lilongwe due to relationship problems.

The remains of Augustine Maluwa Jnr alias Ancient King Jericho, a dancehall musician from Bangwe Township in Blantyre will be laid to rest today.

The artist killed himself yesterday and left behind a suicide note explaining why he made such a decision.

According to the suicide note, he got depressed due to financial hiccups. He added that life left him with no meaning.

According to him, everything in this life is unreal, except death hence a decision to kill himself.

King Jericho well known for songs like Wa Escom, Kamodzi, and Akwere was an Electrician by profession aside from doing music.

The musician whose name is Augustine Maluwa Jnr aka Ancient King Jericho said in a suicide note before taking his life, that he tried his best to be what he wanted but remained unsuccessful.

The promising dancehall star, said he got depressed after seeing that no matter how hard he tried nothing worked in his favor and started abusing drugs and alcohol.

According to him, everything in this life is unreal, expect death hence a decision to kill himself.

He then requested that on his funeral ceremony, no choir songs should be played but his friends should honor him by singing songs he loved the most.
