‘Coup’ Detainees Returned to Lumbadzi Cell, As Callista Leads in Drumming Support

Drama In Lilongwe: ‘Coup’ Detainees Returned to Lumbadzi Cell, As Callista Leads in Drumming Support……Ambuye Timenyereni Nkhondoyi

Eleven politicians arrested in connection to the Bingu inquiry report have once again pulled another surprise when they vehemently refused to enter the Maula Prison.

After leaving the courts, the suspects were diverted into Maula Prison, breaching an earlier agreement with lawyers from both sides that they be returned to Lumbadzi police

When they entered Maula Prison gates, the suspects refused to be thrown into the jails, a development which lead into a stand off between laywers of both sides

This is a second surprise of the day after the eleven attacked government right from the police cells, through the media, in the morning.

Meanwhile, former first lady Callista Mutharika has taken herself the role of drumming up support for the detainees.

Soon after the news that her brother in-law and his disciples have been thrown into Maula Prison spread, Callista mobilising women and youth who sung anti-government songs right at the jail gates.

To make matters worse, the prisoners joined in the chorus singing, ‘ife ndi akuda kuti tigone ndi a president a 2014’ (we are too dirty to spent a night with the state president pending 2014).
