Trips in Malawi these days are taking much longer, not only because of speed traps but because of the large number of road blocks and impromptu stops by overzealous police ( traffic) officers. Are they driven by the need to regulate traffic? Why are they not as zealous with ending criminal activities and corruption? What would it take to get the police to put as much resources to ending crime as they are deploying to control traffic?
