The political future of wife to renowned musician, Mlaka Maliro, Bernadetta Mlaka Maliro, hangs in balance after suffering a heavy defeat in party primaries in which she had stood on a Peoples’ Party (PP) ticket.
Maliro has been defeated by former United Democratic Front (UDF) parliamentarian, Salim Bagus, in the Chikhwawa Central of which she was its incumbent MP by a margin of over 5,000 votes.
However, like most other losers in the PP primary elections, Maliro has cried foul over the results.
In the meantime it is known what will be her next course of action after the defeat. Maliro went into parliament on a DPP ticket but later dumped the party after the death of its leader, Bingu wa Mutharika, and moved to the PP.
