Traditional Authority Chekucheku of Neno district has been indefinitely suspended from his position as chief for misuse of his office.
Chekucheku is being accused of abusing his chieftaincy by among others using his powers to illegally acquire land.
The development recently forced the villagers in the district to close down the District Commissioner’s office for failure to act on the matter.
After the commotion, Chekucheku was quoted in one of the local radio station as saying he was not shaken by the group of the communities saying they are those who do not agree with his efforts to stop corrupt practices on the facilitation of development projects in his area.
Meanwhile President Joyce Banda has recommended the suspension to pave for investigation.
