Good morning fellow Malawians. Yesterday I had a meeting with the UN Country Team which came to brief me ahead of the 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly-UNGA.

The assembly will convene on Tuesday, 16 September in New York City, drawing together government, business and health leaders from around the world.

A prominent theme this year will be the Millennium Development Goals—eight targets that the global health community is working towards achieving by 2015.

During the Assembly, we will take stock of the progress being made towards these goals, the intensified efforts and the future “sustainable development agenda.
