ILLEGALL ELECTRICITY CONNECTION CLAIMS A LIFE

A 20-year-old woman is reported to have been electrocuted to death by an illegally connected live electricity line which she wanted to use as a drying line for her washed clothes.

Zomba Police Deputy Spokesperson Patricia Supiliyano confirmed of the development and identified the deceased as Chrissy Chipoya.

According to the police, the incident happened at the plot of a Mr. Rodrick Mlangeni at Kachulu who went to report at the police.

“The deceased washed her clothes and placed them on a live electricity wire which was illegally connected which had some parts exposed without plastic cover. She was struck by the electricity shock waves and killed on spot,” said Supuliyano.

She said the dead body was taken to the hospital and a postmortem report has indicated that death was due to electricity.

Chipoya hails from Village Chipoya in Traditional Authority Mwambo in the district.
